Next Friday's fun drive

Going from Ohio to Stafford, VA to visit my brother. He recommended this route. He loves it in his Porsche 911.

It's not the Dragon but fun.

That'll make for a full day - stay sharp.

My most recent trip down to PA to visit family. A roundabout route, much of it scenic and twisty, and which avoids NYC completely

Looks like a good drive! Going around NYC is well worth is for sanity and for your wallet. I have only driven around/through NYC maybe 4-5 times. If the traffic doesn’t kill you the tolls will.

I am used to long hauls since I work sales in the Ag industry. I used to average between 70,000 - 110,000 per year. That and I still do my monthly drive to Ft. McCoy, Wi, 472 miles one way. If I don’t hit bad traffic in Chicago, it can be done in 7.5 hours. Last weekend (out on Thursday, back on Sunday) traffic was horrible both ways. 9.5 hours out and 8.5 hours back. A BMW and I made up a little time from just south of Janesville, WI to Rockford, IL. We were running about 120 MPH. He was in the lead as I like having Bear bait.

The 1st 3.5 hours will be on major roads going from NW corner of Ohio catty-corner to Athens. I will also have my youngest brother with me on the Stafford trip. We will stop at Mountain State Brewing in Bridgeport, WV for lunch around 12 - 1 and fill a couple growlers for when we get to my brothers.

Looks like a real adventure! The real "twisties" are in the stretch of US 50 between Bridgeport and Mount Storm, WV. I've driven that route many times and it's indeed a blast, especially the stretch over Cheat Mountain. Looks like you're also cutting across to US 48 at Bismarck via WV 42. Not as familiar with the route from there on out, but I know the scenery in general is quite nice there. One area to be on your guard is the 55 mph stretch of US 33 that starts at about 8 or 9 miles before Athens, OH. That's one of those "Special Enforcement" areas, if you know what I mean. :impatient:

Being form Ohio, I am well aware of the Buckeye Bear's "Special Enforcement" areas. Thanks for the warning though.

I received my new to me JB+ yesterday and got it installed just in time for the trip. I purchased it from another NAM member. Thanks Mini242! It will be put to good use.

So far only a little in town driving with it so not much to report. Looking forward to the open road and also seeing the difference. I am also curious to see what it does to my average fuel mileage.

Hope your drive yesterday was an absolute blast!

Unfortunately, it started raining and fog just east of Bridgeport, WV were the fun begins. Had a little fun but with limited visibility and wet road conditions, I stayed very reasonable.

The reason I did this road trip was of course to visit my brother but also pick up some rims I purchased from a NAM Member LostDenverite. Have them loaded in the boot for transport home, drinking good beer preparing for a home made wood fired pizza!

Holy cow - GMTA. Just received these from TireRack - Enkei Compe 16x7. Classic banana spoke style that the original MINI made famous. I haven't yet decided on tires.

My road trip this weekend was a little closer to home - out and back from our local transfer station. Getting rid of a lot of yard waste, putting the Coupe to work:

I will be going with Continental Extreme Contact when my current rubber wears out. I haven't decided on the winter/snow tires for the other set. I have to wear out the Edge HP that are on it now

Really got the feel of what the JB+ added. Definitely a more steady power/torque band. I used Torque Pro to view my boost prior to adding it and after. Prior to the JB+ I maxed out at 13.4 PSI boost, with it I maxed out at 16.4 so yes noticeable difference.

Next upgrades are going to be intercooler, then perhaps either sway bar or bushings or both at the same time since you are in there/down there.
