Forge Turbo Blanket Install

Decided to try and cut down on the heat melting our scoop so I installed a turbo blanket. Got them on sale from ECS over Christmas. Product came in a bag no instructions, but looked pretty straight forward. Hardest part was to remove and install the three bolts on the radiator side. My suggestion is to clean them before installing them again. On the R57 you need to remove the sensor completely and loosen the sensor bracket and move it out of the way. R59 you just unplug the sensor and feed it through. Both needs the OEM heat shield removed and for the first few drives it smokes like crazy. Just open your hood and windows and air it out after each drive until it stops smoking. Looks cool and feels cooler, but it's also winter here ;-).

Looks like a copy of the older Alta / Perrin turbo blanket.

Not sure you have it installed 100% correctly... Looks like it should be tucked between the hot side turbine housing and the oil / water lines - not sitting on top of the oil fitting like that. I would be worried about the oil and water lines getting too hot.

I'm open to suggestions. Again, it had no real instructions. CS just says it goes over Turbo and is a bolt on replacement for OEM. So what you're saying is I should tuck the right side of the blanket in?

Below is what Forge has on their site:

The install instructions can be found here, under the "Downloads" tab:
https://www.forgemotorsport.com/Turb...uct--1615.html

Take a look at this picture of the Alta blanket:

See how it tucks nicely between the turbine housing and the oil line? I would try to get the Forge blanket into a similar position.

Yeah, those are the instructions I got from CS, "Remove the bolts and shield and bolt on". I get what you're saying, problem is the Forge is a little longer on the right than the Alta. I'll try and see if there is any room to tuck it down.

I appreciate the posting. I have been eyeing that thing, since the price seems reasonable.

Did you ever get the turbo installed? And try it yet?

Yes, I ended up tucking the right side in so it doesn't cover the hoses. One thing I noticed on our R57 it smoked like crazy for the first few drives where I felt a little uneasy. I was told its normal and it went away. On our R59 it didn't smoke as much. I was only able to see it if I popped the hood. Its been cold here in NC so I couldn't really tell you if it reduced the heat, but definitely looks good.
