Persistent Rattling!

This is driving me nuts! I've taken the car to two different dealers at this point about this noise. First one couldn't find anything, second thought it was an unsecured clip in drivers door panel, fixed that, but didn't fix the noise! Has anyone had this rattling before? Or know of what it might be? It seems to be coming from driver's side wheel well or dash area, can be heard inside the car when going over rough/patchy pavement. I know I need to further consult w/ the dealer but I just don't have the energy/time to keep going back there...

Haha. My whole ****ing car rattles and it's only got 35k on it. Put the top down and you won't notice ;)

A possible bad front strut will give a rattle noise as well.....just another option

Aaaabd it continues
had the car back to dealer for third time trying to identify and rectify this noise. But again, to no avail. Dealer initially thought it was a loose clip in drivers side door. Noise continued. Now they thought it wasn’t bad sway bar bushings and replaced those. No good. Brought the car home today and the noise started again just as i got on my local roads home. Wasn’t worth fighting rush hour traffic to bring it back to dealer same day, but I’ll return tomorrow. Just very frustrated. Anyone have any ideas? This car is completely stock, no mods. |
Your dealer loves you! I would take the road wheel and arch liner off and investigate every possibility myself. Starting with brake pads, pad tensioner spring, cable and hose retainers, look up into the tower and inspect the spring and damper. Check my door striker plate is located correctly, i.e. exactly central to the lock. There are endless possibilities for noise in this model and you are killing your wallet going to a dealer... you will find it eventually.

My first guess would be sway bar end link or strut mount bearings... But, it’s REALLY hard to find a rattle over the interwebz :confused: |
