Drivers side looking in ...now the trim is hanging down a bit :(
Hello guys...new here! 2012 Mini Cooper S convertible.....just bought this car used and yesterday went to put the top up and heard a “pop” and the middle trim piece is now hanging a little low....it was hanging way down, but I was able to push it back up.
I took a photo of what looks like where a screw goes, but I can’t make heads or tails of what exactly I need!
Ive read this entire thread...but no idea what I need to purchase!
Can anyone look at the photos photos and help me?

OK, so if you are sure it is an R57, I have looked at realoem and part 21 or 22 are your only bet. Compare with the other one and see which one it is. I am nowhere near my car until Friday so I can have a look the but I have no recollection of seeing that spring on mine and I have replaced the fabric so would have seen it.
Same issue, unsure if I need a new motor cover or clips

From the other posts in the thread and some observations myself I know that the clip on the end of part 7 from the diagram is still intact on my car but the plastic motor cover piece still cannot clip on. I’m now wondering if I need the small clips that people have mentioned to clip it back on somehow or if I need a full new motor cover.

You would have to take the cover off and see if the clips are ok. If not order up. If something broke and the clip will not hold in place you will need to get the full piece.
On my 2010 R57, the Right Center Cover (part number 54-34-2-758-090-BOE) broke. I have the replacement, which has a metal clip on the thicker end. The thinner end goes in under the headliner into the rear pillar. How can I open up the area (lift the headliner) to access the attachment point and what kind of attachment is used inside the “pillar” ( screw, etc). Thanks in advance.

Did you ever find ou to remove covering? I have the same question and issue.
I have a part that looks different than those shown here and I can't seem to find it on any diagrams. It is on the passenger (right) side behind the trim tray. I have attached a few photos - anyone know what part this is? Part #? Can I find a replacement or will the dealer try to replace the entire panel?

Thanks - I should have looked at the picture more closely before buying the part. The metal clip pulled off the part and was stuck in the top. I removed it with needle nosed pliers and slid it back into the bottom part and was able to reinsert it without even removing the part. Fortunately, the part was not very expensive!
Ok, this threat is one of the main reasons for me joining this forum. We've got a few trim pieces that had previously been glued back in place. But glue eventually fails so I've got a clanging piece of plastic in my ear when I'm driving... slightly annoying!
The parts are mentioned literally in the posts just above this one. I've got new ones and I'm ready to get them in place but I cannot for the life of me understand how the inner canvas panels in the R57 detach so provide access. Am I correct looking at the rivets holding the fabric in place to the frames or is there something that can be undone more easily?
Hoping to get this sorted this weekend whilst the back seats and door panels are off so we only have to take the car off the road for a few days.
Any help, massively appreciated. Searched all over the internet but to no avail!
I've located three torx screws on/near where the B pillar would normally be. This allows me to drop the inner canvas liner enough to get to the torx to remove the trim that's broke. I could only manage it though as one of the strings that ties the canvas interior panel in has come loose (looks like where it attaches to the plastic has broken).
I'm not sure I could get in the other side to do this given how tight the interior canvas panels are to the main roof.
Surely these rivet things can be removed? They don't look like a normal rivet as the out is black but it has a silver (almost press stud looking piece) interior on the other side. I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow and post it for thoughts.
I have the exact same issue as ELBMD above from June 2023. I purchased the part Covering - Right Center right side ( passenger side ) referenced in the ECS Tuning response to ELBMD. However, I cannot get the screw at the back of the part uninstalled. I am stripping the screw head, which appears to have an allen wrench head, and is its own problem! It occurred to me that the only way that I can access the screw is by having the convertible top halfway down. If I have the top fully up, the screw is completely covered by the taut canvas-like interior of the convertible top. If I have the top all the way down, I cannot get any tools into the area to attempt to unscrew the damaged part.
Do you have any idea whether part of the problem may be that, while the top is halfway down, there is torque on the screw and that is why I cannot get it to budge? I am wondering if there is no torque on the screw, it may be easier to unscrew. But with the top all the way up or all the way down, I cannot access the screw. In any event, any thoughts or ideas you have would be most appreciated! It looks like the person on the forum was able to fix the problem without dealing with the screw.

Might have too much tension on it with top opened. Pull that fabric back and reach up with a smaller tool.
I use a small micro ratchet with a 3/8 drive with a torx end socket. Press hard and back it out. If it spins with the top closed it must be stripped on the threads. Then it will need drilled out and re-tapped.
