Who has been able to place an order

According to MF in the first paragraph...

The new MINI Convertible will make its worldwide debut in January at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Orders for the MINI Convertible are being taken now; the price for the MINI Cooper Convertible is $24,550 and for the MINI Cooper S Convertible $27,450, including the $650 destination and handling charge. Delivery of the first MINI Convertibles will begin on March 28, 2009.

I can't yet

From what I understand, no one. While the US Press Release says that orders are being taken, I've contacted the dealership that I placed my deposit last year with, and they don't have any allocation information as of yet. They don't even know the prices for the packages or the individual options. The Business Dev Mgt from that dealership did say that he'll have some good news for me later on this evening. Who really knows.

I even went as far as emailing the lady to sent out the US Press Release on Friday last week, but so far no response from her. She attached her MiniUSA email address to the official press release.

No orders are being taken yet in the US. We just received our two first slots for a Cooper Convertible and a Cooper S Convertible for Week 6 and Week 8 of 09. The information we have has the onsale date being March 28, 2009.

Any word...

Any word on the sidewalk package? Chrono pack?

I only found out that they introduced those back into the 08 model FAR to late. I have the 2008 Mini I want all built and ready to go... sidewalk package, chrono pack, etc, but I'm dreading that these things might not be available.

They took out the sport suspension, that has to be paid for separately. They took out the Harmon Kardon and replaced it with an Alpine 6 or 10 speaker system. The premium package no longer includes the speakers, or the center arm rest. The convenience package includes bluetooth and integrated Ipod. Also has 3 universal garage door openers, auto-dimming rearview window.
Some of the standard features are no longer standard, like park assist. DSC is now DTC. DTC is a combination of DSC and limited slip differential and is EXTRA although it is also a part of the jacked up Sport package.
Also, the base price increased by $1400!!
There are some new upholstery options. I ordered the Hot chocolate with the hot chocolate roof for Simone.
I basically had to order everything I wanted a la carte and the price is $2500 more than the configurator. The biggest load of crap is the loss of the Harmon Kardon. It almost makes me want to just hold on to the 08 MCS I am driving now!!
As a matter of fact, I am debating whether I really want to change. My biggest complaint about the current cabrio is the black seats in the summer and the lower than expected milage and higher than desired emissions. Do I really care that much about the environment??
Thoughts??
I posted this is the wrong place. Sorry

My friend ordered her Cabrio recently and she said the chrono pack is no longer available (I have it and I guess she and her DH liked it).

They were told to expect delivery March 18. Arlington, TX

You cannot place an order for a 2009 convertible yet. If you have you just gave them your money in the interim. Allocation has not been given to the dealers yet. Pricing has been given but not allocation. So whomever placed an order, you are just in line for when the allocation is handed out.
Good luck.

Actually no. My dealer was allocated a spot for Early March. They called me last week and told me to come in so that we can order it, and he put the order in this past Wednesday. Maybe that was just a lark, but I wanted you to know that an order has already been placed.

Wow, do you have a production number?
That is really funny since I am a dealer as well and we do not have any modifiable convertibles and we are the largest dealer in the midwest.
Who was the dealer?

I'll agree with MiaMia in that the dealership is sitting on your order until they have an open slot that can be modified. You'll know it has been submitted for sure once you get a production number.

From what I understand, most dealers got allocation for a few regular Cooper Convertibles. The allocations for the "S" will occur mid week.

Mini of Pleasanton, CA did get a few regular Cooper Convertible allocation back on 12/26.

Right, those are dealer NON-modifiable cars. Those are going to be their launch vehicles.
You cannot modify them for sale.
Each dealer got 2 of each a cooper and cooper S convertible back in December. Again, non modifiable cars.

You know, I thought so as well, however my dealership called me later on in the afternoon, and told me that they got allocated 1 customizable S Cooper Convertible, so we went in and customized it from the 2009 sheet.

We went with the Interchange Yellow (A95) and Leather Lounge Carbon Black (T9E1) with Convenience (ZCV), Cold (ZCW), Premium (ZPP) and Sport (ZSP) Package (the one with the 2RU Rims and white turn signal lights, not the other). We also added the Sport Suspension (226), Limited Slip Differential (2TA), Interior Body Color (318), Chrome Door Mirror Caps (405), Parking Distance Control (507), Rear Fog Lamp (5AA), Navigation System (609), HD Radio with RTTI (653), and Mini HiFi Sound System (6FD).

Couple of Things to note: The Rear-Mounted Bike Rack Prep (3AR) is SOP 03/09. The JCW Option are NOT yet available. They'll have the JCW Options available around April 2009.

Note #2: These were based on their sheet with had a SOP of 12/08 and a EPO of 08/09. Does that mean we'll see a MY2010 with a SOP of 09/09?

If anyone wants more details of the packages and the options, let me know.

I decided to go through all the information I received at the dealership, and here's the interesting part. In Bulletin #: PB-12-17-08 there is a paragraph stating:

Now remember, each dealer will receive at least three HEA cars whe the car goes on sale and two of them will be equipped with MINI Motoring and John Cooper Works accessories - one Cooper and one Cooper S. These accessories, which are different for the Cooper and the Cooper S will be port installed for your convenience.
