I think I'm in love!

I really never got into the 07's. At all. Ever since I first saw them I knew how much I loved the 02-06's. Nothing could convince me to like anything on it. BUT, I read reviews, saw test drives on youtube, and figured what the heck this morning. I have nothing better to do, why not take a test drive.

Words can't even describe the smile on my face the second I pulled out of the MINI Dealership and hit 45 in what felt like a split second. It picked up so fast, I couldn't even figure out when to shift! I drive a 91 Miata, and it's right around 100hp. You can imagine the difference.

I was delighted to hit the highway and test the pick up again. It was going so fast I was holding on for dear life and shifting faster than I could think. I LOVE IT. I'm still not sold on the looks, I loved every small inch of my 04 Cooper 100% and never changed one thing on it the whole time I owned it. But it still has the spirit (and a whole lot more!) of my old MINI. The features took some getting used to, and I'm upset the hood release moved to the driver's side, but I have to have one.

I was honestly expecting to simply take a test drive to brighten my day, but I ended up sitting down and pricing it out. I even went and looked at other 07's on the lot. Sadly they had one just like I wanted, but LUCKILY it was a Cooper. I really didn't want to have to throw down 24k today! It's still a little too pricy for me now, and I'm hesitant buying a new vehicle, but I'm seriously considering budgeting for one now. Help! That addiction is back and I can't control it!

The R56 is very addictive.

Buy two ...they're small.

dean.

Good to have you back. :) I give you 60 days tops before you place an order. Time to start waxing and vacuuming out that Miata!

My test drive went similarly...amazing!!! Sad thing is that I adapted to the new looks, too, so I'm definitely sunk! Watch for a new arrival this Fall.

Im Impressed, For someone who has almost 4000 posts you have been in the Mini circles for quite a while now, that is quite a statement. IMO . Great car. Mine is on order.

TSB and MINI sitting ina tree M-O-T-O-R-I-N-G

(Have you driven an R53 MCS?)

The Short Bus Mar 10, 2007 11:28 AM

I've only driven one other S in the 5 years i've loved MINI's, and that was an 04... at carmax... and I loved it. But that love could never top this one!!

are you really getting one gokart?! I only JUST starting my new job, so I have to wait until I get a few paychecks so I can budget. I'm scared to have debt again, but you only have one life, why not enjoy it? :)

Wow, TSB... that is some serious enthusaism for the new MCS ! It gives me hope that, if MINI doesn't change their styling again in the next few years, that I'll be happy with owning another new MINI.

And yes, you do only live once and our time on Earth is very short, so we have to enjoy life to the fullest. BUT... be careful not to become "car poor" in the process. You don't want to be in love with a car that stays in the garage because you don't have the money to go places and do things ! I was young once and made that mistake.

Ps. LOVE the new sig ! Where should we send our $20 to help you ??

The Short Bus Mar 10, 2007 11:59 AM

Haha you're sweet. I did actually spend all my money on the last MINI, and learned the hard way with that one. $330/payment+$350/gas+$250/insurance=$930/month. I'm taking my time making sure I can handle it this time... but the wait is so hard!!!

CR&PW&JB Mar 10, 2007 12:18 PM

Yikes !! I can understand the car payment amount. The gas is a little high, but understandable by today's standards. The insurance rate is incredibly high though ! I know you're young, but given you're a female, I would think you can find a better rate.

Still... you're being smart to wait. If you can bring down the car payment by putting down a bigger down payment, that would be wise (as opposed to drawing the loan out over more months at a higher finance rate).

Make a plan and stick to it. You'll get there before you know it.

The Short Bus Mar 12, 2007 07:51 PM

the MA tried soooo hard to get me to buy it. She could tell I was an easy sale, I'm sure ;)

I don't get online at work, so I didn't get to see about the meet! But one of the people in RCM emailed me at work... letting me know he worked two floors down :P I was daydreaming about the MINI when I got his email :)

I've memorized all the PW's on all of the car sale sites, and nothing is quite right. I'm still keeping an open mind for an 05-06, since I'm still in love with them. I'm sure if I find the right one I'll jump on it! I'm a little hesitant buying a first year... so we'll see how fast I crack.

Just to help push you over the edge.. I've had my r56S a few days now - 220 miles on the Odo.. OBC reports an average of 31.8 MPG - and I don't drive like granny.

Now that you are a worldly-wise business woman he/she should have known that parting TSB from her cash would not be too easy. Still, in the grand scheme of things, I think it is a worthy goal given the insane enjoyment it will give you. Configurate...calculate...wait....then dominate!!!

The Short Bus Mar 13, 2007 05:31 PM

Ashley Vaughan.

And my supervisor came and told me to dress up my cubicle because it's too drab. So i brought in a few mini toys and lots of mini pictures. That mixed with goofy pictures of my cats made for lots of new friends! I love what that car does to people.

I'm starting to lose my backbone and cave in. It's hard when you're ALWAYS around mini's on the road, and know you can't look cute like them in one!

SandiePepper Mar 13, 2007 05:47 PM

Welcome back, even though I know you've been around NAM, but I hope you get the new MINI you want. Just be careful and don't get in over your head, there are a lot of used MINIs out there that have been well loved. Take your time and work it out. In the mean time if you can make it to Vegas for AMVIV 4 you can ride with me

I'm guessing I have a much harder time pulling off cute than you do. My problem is that I recently moved and now live just around the corner from the local MINI dealership!!!:eek2: Yup...every new color, every new wheel set....every little question that floats through my feeble brain....every color sample or swatch....I'm there. My MA is very compassionate...and long-suffering.

Let's see who caves first!!!

Is there a mini-mum amount of flair?  :)
