Hope you don't want a wood steering wheel

Just a heads up.

NO wood steering wheels. If you ordered a wood steering wheel you will not get it. If you want to order one you will not be able to.

If a dealer somehow has a 2007 MINI with the wood steering wheel they cannot sell it.

There is going to be a redesign for it.

If this is true it might be a safety issue (otherwise dealers would be able to sell the ones they have).

The wood wheel is beautiful but I don't think I'd like to grip it for hours on end. I wish they'd offer a wheel that has wood at the top and leather on the sides (where you'd normally hold it). This would both be comfortable and bring out the wood trim dashboard. I've seen a few steering wheels like that and while it isn't as good-looking as the MINI all-wood wheel, it's a little more practical.

Wood Steering Wheel NOT

Yes, I had ordered one and I was told that a bulletin has been issued--apparently the wood steering wheel has not performed well in crash testing, so it is withdrawn for at least the time being.

Very interesting and worth watching. Any more details are welcome!! Good for them for yanking it if there was a problem...it's too good a potential option to get wrong.

If you ordered the wood wheel as part of the premium package and now you get leather - what about the wood shift **** and wood emergency brake?

Has anyone had any luck getting any sort of compensation for not getting the wood steering wheel? I mean I know it cost the same as the leather, but the leather looks like an eyesore next to the wood dash to me. I feel like my mini is less than perfect because of this.

I didn't post this to feed the trolls. especially suspiciously newly created account ones.

***

Opty cable guy, even if your dealer messed up and ordered you a wood steering wheel, your MINI was not created with one.

The only possible cars to have them would have been pre-production demos.

I don't know if people who ordered the wood steering wheels will have a wooden shift ****/ebrake handle.

It's true - No wood wheel, shift ****, or brake

I was pretty disappointed, especially because the wood trim looks so good.

My MA showed me a dealer note - It said that the wood steering wheel did not pass safety tests for the US, so it is out...indefinately. Don't know why the shift **** and brake weren't there either. No explanation, but it didn't include any of it except the dash and door handles.

Yes, it's now an option.

And it's real wood.

But I didn't get it. There's a joke in there, but I'll just let that pass.

It's taken a lot of willpower to avoid that joke all day, but so far we've all managed to do so...
