Finally an answer to the Seat Issue!!!
I emailed ask-mini and got this response today:
Thanks for writing MINI. Congratulations on your upcoming Cooper S!
Some of our U.S. seats will look the same as the European specification seats. They are the cloth seats, the cloth/leather seats, and the leather seats. The Lounge Leather seats will have a different seat bottom so that they can properly accommodate the seat occupancy sensor.
I hope this information helps you out. If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. I will be happy to lend a hand.

I would, I hate to say, take anything from MiniUSA with a small grain of salt. As I noted in a different thread, "Website/Reality Pricing Discrepancies," what they tell you over email can be different from what the MAs have been told, and that's true for options as well as pricing.
Thankfully Gabe has confirmed this over at motoringfile, so I feel Ok with believing this particular issue's resolution. But I know I have had their CS rep email tell me 3 times one thing, and then I called and spoke to someone, and got something different, and then I got an email telling me the something different. (This going back and forth was caused by my MA telling me one thing, and MiniUSA telling me something different, and I feel I stepped on my MA's toes by telling him, essentially, he was wrong. Only to find MiniUSA was, in fact, the ones telling me the wrong stuff.) Very confusing. Clearly this transition to a new model is, at times, taking a little more organization than they have available. For example, why has the internet known about the delays in the audio package and hypersport for almost a month, yet the website still says "Available 3/07" and my MA says they both are "Summer 07." The website (configurator) pricing on the Tuscan Gravity seats was updated within 2 days of finding out about the errors.
I love Mini, can't wait to get mine, but I'm just saying not to be too shocked if what is fact now is a different fact later. :-)
