R56 Should rear and front rotors/pads be of the same brand?
Should rear and front rotors/pads be of the same brand?
I have Mini Cooper S 2009 R56.
Should I install rear and front rotors of the same brand? I checked a few websites and they state different OEM brands for rear and front rotors and brakes. For example, the OEM for the rear is JURID but for the front is Ate. Is this a mistake and I should order of the same brand?

Hello,
Regarding rotor brand used on front vs rear: Imho - no harm using different rotor brand on front vs rear. For example, I'm on my third set of front rotors but still on my 2nd set of rear rotors. I tend to use higher quality rotors on front (ex: CENTRIC 32034114H GCX Elemental Protection; Hi-Carbon; Fully Coated) vs rear since front do like 80% of braking and generate the most heat. But, I do make sure both front and rear rotors have anti-corrosion coating on the rotor hats and vanes.
Regarding brake pad used on front vs rear: Again, imho, no harm having different brands on front vs rear. Though, I'd highly recommend AKEBONO EUR1309A Euro Ceramic Pad for both front and rear. Cannot say enough good things about these pads. practically zero brake dust, long lasting, OE stopping power, and very easy on rotors.
Good luck,

+1 on compounds.
