High beams and directionals come on by themselves

2013 Mini S. Occasionally, high beams and directionals come on without being turned on while driving.

On at least one occasion headlights started flashing while car was parked.

My first thought is short in light stalk. Anybody have any answers?

Thanks!

In the past the flimsy connector on footwear module misbehaved resulting in weird electrical issues for me.
I was installing LED fog/running lights kit and needed to tap in to one of the wires going into footwell module. When everything was installed, I lost my lights, the hazards would not work, and everything behaved weirdly.
I thought I have wired something wrong. Turned out to be one of the connectors on footwell module. After reconnecting it everything works as expected ever since.

Where is the footwell module located?

The footwell module is located underneath the panel to the left of where your left foot rests.

Here is the picture of footwell module location. You have to remove a few panels in order to get access to it.
