Car won't start!!!!
2009 Mini Cooper base won't start. When key fob goes into slot there's no power or ndication lights and pedal is stiff. Lights, accessory lights, and radio work. Door locking/unlocking and raising/lowering work with key fob. Battery and ignition switch were just replaced today. All fuses and relays have been functionally checked w/multimeter and 12v source. Hood junction box Fuses 2,3,4,5 & relays 2 & 3 have no power going to them. Passenger junction box fuses 31,32,33,34,35,44 have no power. Any advice would be amazing.

Sounds like the ECU is corrupted or fried , could possibly be the footwell module too

Thanks for the quick reply! With the haynes manual and bare minimum wiring diagram. Is the ECU the same as the DME control unit?
|
according to the diagram (link below), these fuses are activated by a relay that receives a signal coming from the CAS. That relay is internal to the JB. In some cases, water gets into that box and causes issues.

So we called a local auto shop that specializes in MINI. He quoted about $700 for JBE and about $1k for CAS replacements and labor without tax. They also say both need to be programmed. Is this correct and is there anyway to get these done ourselves?
|
The JBE can be replaced with a used one having the same part number or similarly optioned mini. Coding and programming is preferred. The CAS can be cloned easily. There are devices out there to accomplish that, namely R270 tool.
I could do that for you for much less than that. Where are you located? |

CSA from our car. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...6854250e7d.jpg these are photos of the CSA from mini. Front and back look fine. Is there a way to test it? Next thing on the list would be removing JBE |
