Trunk Lubricant
Hey,
Does anyone know of a good grease or lubricant to use for the trunk? Specifically, for the liftgate Lift Support Shock Strut Damper. #6 on here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=41_1777 It squeaks when I try to shut it and gravity no longer helps close it. |
Probably need to replace it. You can try some graphite or lithium lube but usually those are inexpensive and easily replaced when they start to fail.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the replacement brand? I found Üro for real cheap: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/51247148902/ |
I think grease would be too thick. I'd use silicone spray.

Those dampers are usually pretty common, maybe find a replacement at a major auto parts store. All you really need is equivalent piston length and extension...same type of connecting points help too.
All grease does is collect dust on one of those. |
