What is your cost per mile? Mine is $0.22/mile

I like my 07 justamini hatch but it seems like I'm spending money on it all the time. I bought it a year ago with 80,000 miles and now it has 110,000.

Here is a list of what I've done to it. I did all the work myself except the windshield. New hatch handle, new gearshift ****, fixed oil filter housing leak, valve cover gasket, ECT sensor connector, tires, timing chain upper guide and tensioner, front and rear brake rotors, used radio, used driver's seat, windshield and 3 oil changes (not enough in the common opinion I'm sure). I've spent about $1300 on parts.

My average fuel economy is 36 mpg calculated by me. I figure an average fuel price of $3.50 per gallon here in California over the last year, for a total of about $3000. I think the car has depreciated about $2000. I paid too much at $6000.

I had been looking for a while and wanted an NA car with cloth seats. I had a date the night I bought the car. My other car was too junky so I pulled the trigger. So I'll round off to a total of $6500 to drive 30,000 miles. That means about 22 cents per mile.

Seems kind of expensive for driving a 10 year old used car that I fix myself. Wondering if anyone else has calculated theirs?

I do calculate mine when I sell all of my cars. I agree, yours is rather high, but you have put a lot of work into the car so hopefully it lasts a few more years without many issues. For what it is worth, I don't worry about gas, only depreciation and R&M. Based on your costs, you are at about $275/month including depreciation and R&M, or $108/month for just R&M. Could you be in a better car for $275/month? Only you can decide that......

People ask me about the mileage and I just grin (see sig. below) and tell them 'I don't care'.
