Amber Tails for White, doesn't work right?

Hit the local pick and pull today and one of the things I was looking for was a new passenger tail light for my '12 S.
Found an earlier 2nd gen with Amber turn signals instead of the clear ones mine had, so I snagged both of them because I liked the look better.
Plugged in the first one, but the amber turn signal is on when the lights are on.

Was there a wiring difference between the model years and/or between the clear turn signals vs. the amber ones?

I, mistakenly, assumed the wiring was the same.

The bulb mounting board should be the same just swap them and should work

did you ever figure this out? i just bought a pre-facelift pair of tail lights and i’m having the same problem. it’s like everything’s wired differently

Did you see the response ^ Are the bulb mounting boards different? Perhaps just swap them out

The pre-LCI tail lights are wired differently from the LCI tail lights. They are not directly interchangeable.
