2013 brakes same as 2007-2010?

Just got a 2013 low miles and has all new pads and rotors put it. The brakes just don't seem to have the same bite or stopping power as our former 2007.

Yes they do use the same brakes. But if someone used cheap pads or rotors it is often the cause of poor braking so I'd check to see what is actually on it. could be a simple fix of just upgrading to quality pads like EBC.

The rotors were badly scored and someone shoved in ceramic pads without thought mating properties.

Had rotors and pads changed to stock but they just don't have the same bite or stopping power as before. That said it only have 50 miles on it, but in the past with the 07 it was immediately better.

It may be due for a brake fluid flush....

I had that done at the same time. I asked the shop and they admitted its not factory/dealer pads & rotor but OEM by the same people they claim make the factory stuff.

We're having them change these out for factory. No dust but no bite either...

50 miles and the parts are not really broken in. Hard to evaluate pads/rotors that soon, at least for me.

What shop? As I recall you are in the Portland area and it is nice to know the local shop capabilities.

Brakes now have 100 miles. Touch better but not like factory. Its my wife's car so I'm very picky on the brakes since she's hard on them.

This shop is the one that the dealer mechanics take their MINI's. They've been excellent in all areas.

I think they wanted to surpass my request due to my comments are putting in factory - no charge.

DynaSport LLC. Can't say enough good things about them. They never try to sell me what I don't need and show me the state of things prior to any descision unless it clearly failed and is causing a problem.

In 2011 on the r56 chassis just think n18, mini/bmw actually changed the pad material. you are correct the 2007-10 have a lot better feeling. but they went with more of a ceramic based pad to cut down on the dust. unfortunately there was no choice to the customers. only jcw keep the better pads. unfortunately the other side effect is rust build up. the friction is much worse with the newer pads from 2011 and on. on the r60 they switch over in 2012 i think but all 2011's have the better pads. you can confirm on real oem. through production all r56's used the same calipers and brackets same with the r60. If you look it up on date of production will have 2 types of pads.
