N18 Intake Questions...
So I have been doing some searching and reading because I wanted the proper intake for my new 2013 Cooper S. My 07 has the whole AEM Intake which is SUPER NICE, but after reading I see that sometimes the intake hurts the N18's performance. I see some do the JCW top part of the air cleaner ? What have you guys done that has worked or what have you seen that works well with the N18...? I would love to get the AEM Kit again because I have the strut tower bar to match it but if something like the K&N would work then I would use that ..
It's basically a noise maker in these cars. Nobody has offered any real performance proof that the intake produces benefits and some have shown it retards performance slightly.
I have a flat K&N panel filter, made me feel good but really didn't do anything for car.

I have the AEM on my 2012 Clubman. LOVE it. As for performance... not sure. I installed it along with a bunch of other items, then had a Manic stage 2 flash installed. I like it because of the added air flow from the bonnet scoop.
Yes it is true that most intakes actually cause you to loose torque as they just suck hot air from the engine compartment.
You can do the AEM as they do make one to fit

Otherwise a cost effective option is the dry panel filter

To get lower intake temps the Forge intercooler is by far the best investment that will give you more power.
