Replaced lots of parts only clicks when trying to start
2007 R56, replaced turbo, battery, water pump and pulley, oil filter housing gaskets. Dealer wanted $5500. I replaced all of these parts checked all the connectors and now it doesn't star.
Mind you, still have it up on stands and bumper is off at this time.
At wits end, been at this over a month due to work schedules and endless rain through April. Kept car engine bay covered when not working on it.
Put in key fob get shift error, lights error code won't start just clicks.
Please help before I stuff a rag in the tank and make a car bomb. I tried to fix this for my ex and I am at my wit's end.

As a general rule of thumb, there are 4 elements that are directly involved in a running engine:
spark (are you getting any spark to your ignition? How's the spark plugs/wires/ignition coil?)
air (how's the condition of your intake/air filter?)
fuel (how is your fuel pump? Is there any gas in your car?)
compression (have you done a compression test)?
Have you checked for any OBD error codes?
A quick search online: http://jalopnik.com/heres-how-you-di...art-1717491831
Hopefully this will give you some direction.

What do you mean by "shift error"?
The very first thing you should be checking.
The very first thing you should be checking.
Did the turbo fail? That usually results in a huge oil cloud if I recall, but also maybe complete loss of oil and (maybe?) hydrolock? Does the engine be turned over with the spark plugs out, with perhaps gook coming out of the holes, lol?
Thanks for replying
Okay
1. Car sat for a month, disconnected fuel vent line the other day when I removed and reinstalled intake.
2. Turbo, Turbo Lines, Vacuum hoses, Water Pump and Pulley, oil filter gaskets all replaced.
All hoses and connectors tight and installed
3. Fuel pump does activate.
4. P0974 ? Shift Interlock error OBD code
5. Car is on jack stands and front wheels are off, car may not be level.
6. Press start it clicks once, then nothing.
Not with car till tomorrow.
Any advice appreciated greatly

Googling this code, it seems the engine won't start because it thinks the transmission is in a bad state (not in park or neutral, or because of an electrical problem). Do you have manual or automatic transmission? Here's one search result: https://www.yourmechanic.com/questio...it-high-by-raj
Auto Transmission AISIN 6 speed
This Mini is the Chili Red with the Aisin 6 speed transmission. Doesn't start, doesn't even try to start.
However, after clearing the codes a couple of times I did get the ability to move the shifter back and forth and dropped it into neutral so I could roll it into the yard.
Put in a new battery after the other one was 9 years old, disconnected for a month holding a whopping 19 CCA out of 570.
I cleaned the electrical connector that looked like it plugged into a solenoid possibly on the top front of the transmission housing with QC electrical cleaner and wiped it off but didn't help.
