high engine oil level

Can a high engine oil level (as seen in the pic) create any kind of issues and what might they be? The red arrow indicates the max ring on the dipstick.

Probably OK. I believe the Mini takes about 4.5 quarts, when I get the oil changed at the dealer it's always a bit high, I think they toss in 5 quarts.

Dipstick

Just curious as to what dipstick you are using?

It kind of looks thicker like the CravenSpeed, but the bottom is different?

I ask because the area above the low and high where you read the oil level on my CravenSpeed could get oil on it even though the level was correct.

That's one of the stock dipsticks actually.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Running high oil levels can lead to increased oil venting through your PCV especially if you run a lot of high RPMs. You often see warnings on engines where they advise against overfilling and often these engines are in higher RPM installations. The additional vented oil is not a good thing for your CAT or the environment so it's best to try to keep the oil at the max level or just below.

Dealers add 5 qts instead of 4.5 so mine was always a bit high. No biggie.

I've read some posts that claim overfilling the oil can lead to more carbon buildup on the valves from the oil foaming. I don't know if it's true, but it kind of makes sense.

If oil is high enough in the crankcase, the crankshaft will whip it into a foam that the oil pump cannot pump(cavitated pump). Not sure where the low mark is on your dipstick but assuming the dipstick tube top is the low mark of your dipstick, it appears as though your oil level is nearly twice as high up the dipstick as it should be. Based on my assumptions that would give me cause for concern, as it appears to be far more than half a quart high, and I would correct it.
