What oil do you guys use?
Seeing my car burns oil trying to figure the best and cost effective oil?
Maybe one that's not $8-$10 a quart but it might not be one. I use Amsoil now, so is there a cheaper oil to add to my car since it requires adding oil. Think I pay $8 for the Amsoil a quart if nothings any cheaper or available like at a parts store I'll just stick with it.
My mind is blown that a car would burn oil now days. No leak, no smoke. That's crazy to me. 07 S.
I just also ordered a new dip stick because the stock one is weird to read. Hard to see.
The thing is, you kind of get what you pay for with oil. Quality Group V ester based oil that will keep your car in shape under hard driving conditions is expensive. If you don't beat on your car you could get away with a Group III or IV.
Mines just a work car I never shift over 4K. So I was looking for cheaper oil alternatives to $8 a quart. And local since I have to order Amsoil online.
But in all seriousness pick you favorite full synthetic and motor on. I'm partial to Liqui Moly 2332 Leichtlauf 5W-40. $38 for 5 liters but there are some very good options listed above that offer excellent protection.

Amsoil is the best! IMHO.
Im using Castrol EDGE 5-30 getting good deals in O'reilly.
Burning oil on boosted cars is kinda normal... blow by etc. check your compression - cylinder hone or rings might be not in best conditions. Catch can may help a little.
Cheers!
No not another oil thread

After reading the above link, I will continue to use Mobil 1 0W-40, it appears to be just as good as the previous formulation, regardless of it no longer having LL-01 certification.
Well as said it has Amsoil in it. I use it in all my cars and have had it tested it's great But if my car drinks oil I'm using something more cost effective. $4.50 a quart compared to $8.50 a quart.
