2013 Mini JCW Intake Upgrade.
 

Looking to settle for a intake kit for my 13 GP2.

Changing the oil for the first time was a nightmare, i took off so much parts just to get to the oil filter, and still made a oily mess.

Needless to say since i got whole bunch of stuff taken apart as of now.

I want to throw a intake kit on the car...

What is the best intake kit in your opinion and why!!

The intakes don't give power over stock, but they look and sound cool.

Yea, i just figure since i had everything taken off, might as well slap on a intake for the cool sound lol.

on a side note, i broke the little tab that connect the fresh air inlet pipe to this metal bracket by the ECM... but dont remember how the bracket stays on the casing of the ECM.
Any advice mario?

What did you have to take off to get at your oil filter?
I have a 2013, R56 JCW, and all that is required is to remove an 8mm machine screw holding the coolant reservoir in place. Pop it up and out of the way and that's it. It is messy though, so I stuff a rag under the oil filter housing.

Well i took off the coolant hose by the reservoir, and coolant started spraying everywhere lol.
Then there are 2 bigger coolant hoses right on top of the oil filter housing that makes it a pain to get to.

When dragging the housing out, oil gets on whatever that is in its path.
Oil Dripped down on the engine block / tranny.

I noticed this is a lot harder said than done post N18 engine. the tube that goes to the overflow reservoir is much shorter and stiffer than on the pre 2011 models. My 2009 oil change was easy like you said. My 2011 Clubman, pain in the ass. I let the dealer do it for their oil change special of $69.99 + all the **** coffee and mediocre muffins I can eat.

I must have lucked out with the placement of hose clamps or something.:confused:It's a pain, but doable.

It's definitely a lot harder/messier than my 2009 MCS. I use a bungee to hold the coolant reservoir out of the way.

For me, the intake choice was between the ECS Tuning carbon fiber intake and the N14 JCW intake, as both of these draw the outside air instead of preheated air from within the engine compartment. I decided on the ECS because carbon fiber.

Regarding oil changes, first move the coolant tank out of the way. Loosen but don't remove the oil filter cap, then drain the oil. Let it drain for about 10 minutes so all the oil drains out of the filter, that will prevent a mess.

I always keep a couple cans of brake cleaner on the shelf for oil changes. There is NO WAY to not make a mess. Less of a mess, maybe. Then the brake cleaner comes into play...
