Resonator delete or not?

Hey y'all,

So I just had the hubby install (ok, I asked him very nicely to install) an Akrapovic downpipe on my '13 MCS. I am going to have the JCW muffler installed this week and my question for everyone is...should I do the resonator delete as well? I took it for a spin yesterday after he installed the dp and it was popping like crazy in sport...seriously sounded like gunshots!! I have tried to find info on the resonator delete and keep coming up with conflicting information. Maybe someone with personal experience will be able to weigh in here. I am interested in getting that sexy growl, without any drone or whining sound.

Thanks much!!

To eliminate the drone? What would this accomplish?

Take it off, you can always put it back on if you don't like it.

Definitely keep the resonator on.

When I was running cat-less. That's exactly what I did. I kept the original resonator and added a Vibrant 2.5" where the 2nd cat used to be. It definitely helped with the drone.

I'm cat-less but with the factory JCW full exhaust which has a longer resonator than the S and I'm borderline too loud. Manic Stage 2 and it sounds like M-80's and gun fire when I roll though downtown. And I'm pretty sure someone called the other night cause I got the stare from the State Trooper when he passed me at the stop light. It's kind of a small town with only a few MINI's so I stand out...

It probably already sounds like a 50 yr old Massy Ferguson Farm Tractor with M80s going off at down shifts and your thinking of a center pipe delete ?

I think you just answered your own question here.

Hence why I posted this thread...I did not answer my own question. By deleting the resonator, will it just give a deeper tone, add drone or add even more pops?

Again, seems like this may come down to personal preference and I may just have to do it and see how it sounds. If I do not like it, I can always put it back on.

Exactly what it sounds like. If anything I will add a Vibrant resonator over the winter.

You could always do an electric exhaust cutout so you can choose to be straight piped or back to a regular exhaust setup.

I am full catless...ended up installing magnaflow res to tame it down, did not like that attention. With a good res you will have that sexy deep sound that will show your power.

im catless w/o res.. straight back to JCW muffler. On cold start and low idle.. it sounds like a tractor, once you tip into it you can hear the turbo whistle a bit just before the bbbbbBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! POPOPPOPOPPPPBANGBANG!!

Its loud. Theres flames. It sets off the police gun-shot-radar detection systems and makes them come out of the woodworks. I drive it everyday.

I recently installed a factory JCW exhaust and replaced the resonator section with a straight pipe and it sounds amazing, zero drone.
