Aftermarket BOV for r56

i think I need to buy I new BOV for my car it keeps bringing up the check engine light with a code about the BOV...

I need to know if there are any BOVs I could buy that won't lower my mpg or empty my wallets

save your money and stay away from any universal or the fancy BOV's that vent to atmosphere as they'll likely cause a CEL.

WayMotors sells a very good replacement here...

and you can pair it nicely with Altas spring for a little more pep...

Are you saying to replace the spring that comes with in the WMW BOV valve?

i recommend going with the forge product. it's a little more expensive but worth it in my opinion. but i like the sound of the Gredy type S.... but i have never seen anyone install on. would definitely like to see that because i want to know how they take care of the plug doing to the DV.

this is a little video i made a while back

I vent to atmosphere and I am not throwing a CEL.

Based on my research venting to atmosphere does not cause a CEL on the R56.

I went through 3 different types of vta bov's before I returned to a recirc valve. I've heard of people having issues with both the n14 and n18 platforms, but heard just as many people that never have a problem with vta valves. All I know is for me vta valves would cause CEL's and throw the car into limp mode. The most common issue was under light lift, the vta valve would release when the dv did not, and the car would see a leak in the system and freak out. I never tried the valves like the forge vta which replaces the dv entirely, however, so maybe that's the fix. Regardless, there is zero benefit of a vta valve on these cars; they were designed as internal recirc and in my opinion should stay that way. But if the sound is all you want, go for it. As for recirc valves, the one Way sells is great, and if you want a step up from that, or if you plan on tuning and running higher boost I'd recommend you save up and buy the Forge recirc.

The Forge units are a great replacement, I've only had to warranty one unit out in over 3 years.

The rebuilt factory units are the ones that I see more problems with, but if you don't want to spend the money on a Forge unit, I'd just recommend the updated MINI unit.

Forge BOV N18
