New MINI, 1600 miles on N18... lost boost?

MINI S...N18 engine. Only 1600 miles, manual. Driving today and out of nowhere feels like turbo is 100% gone, and Im driving without any boost for about a minute. Come to stoplight and when I pull away from light my power was back. New engine, what happened?! No engine light went on. I scaned and no fault codes.

New engine? Did you get the engine replaced at the dealer or an independent shop?

New car, has warranty? Without a code, could be a zillion different things. For what it's worth, something similar happened on mine. Was the exhaust side VANOS. Fortunately it had thrown a code the dealer could read (I couldn't read it)..

New car w warranty yes. Just didn't think I'd have to use it on a brand new engine :/ Guess I've been gone with other car brands too long….welcome back to MINI right?

How often did that happen on your car before you took it in, once, twice? What was involved with fixing it, taking apart engine, how many days ext?

It did it 2-3 times before I got around to taking it in. It took a couple of hours to fix, they replaced the VANOS solenoid. It's the round gizmo on the drivers side of the cylinder head, somewhat easy to get too. The car was fairly new when it happened. Have driven it cross country twice since then, no problems..
