R56 Is a factory JCW intake the same as on the MINI S?
Is a factory JCW intake the same as on the MINI S?
I'm considering upgrading my 2009 factory-built JCW's intake to the "cold weather" version. (Thanks for input from Griz and others on this board.) Does anyone know for certain that the R56 S has the same intake as my car? I am reliably told that this part does fit the S model, and I hope it also fits a 2009 JCW
The JCW turbo I know is larger, but I don't know if that affects the intake design at all.
Here is the part in question:

ECS Tuning customer service isn't much help for a question this specific...

If you have a factory built JCW the airbox is the same as a standard S with a flat panel filter.
Now if you want to change the airbox you can bolt the earlier stage 1 JCW airbox on with the cylinder shape filter, this is what I use on my car.

+1
After 10K miles, I replaced the OEM with paper filter with a universal K&N and now an Amsoil paper filter.
Throttle response is slightly better with Amsoil than K&N and far better than OEM paper air filter… by comparison.
