When you go up a size to 18" you just compensate with lower profile tires. Unless the combination of offset and width is wrong or you're running the wrong size tires there shouldn't be any issues.

So far, I took a 2003 Mini Cooper for a ride just to get an idea of the first generation feel. Then, I took the above Cooper S for a drive today again to compare. The 2003 Mini Cooper is going for $7900; however, the above Cooper S is a better deal since I am interested in a Cooper S.

What I have noticed in the Mini Cooper S, JCW 2005 - 2006 as mentioned here, is sellers still want pretty dollars...the closest one to me asking $13500.

I noticed some oil leak but could not get a good shot of it (see pic) to tell if it just a valve cover gasket leak. I had also taken a video shot of the engine for the sound on start up...sadly it did not record even though indication claimed it was happening...camera battery could have been low. I might need to see whether the dealer will let me jack the car up and place it on stand. So, I have not made an offer yet.
If the dealer refuses to let you have a look under the car, why would you offer them anything?

Hey thanks for the update. I also owe you an apology as I assumed that you were dealing with a private party on the 2007 Mini Cooper S. Good luck in your search.
One point to add -

The dealer should have the Carfax report or access to it...if dealer will not show you the report then walk away.

The good news...I walked away. The used car dealer wanted $10,000 bottom line so I said the bye bye. I really appreciated the advice I received here and will probably look later on a third generation Mini when it has proven itself.

Good job walking away, let some other sucker bite the hook. Dealers make a lot of money on trade ins because they hardly pay you even half of their value. A year ago I purchased my 07 MCS with 45k miles and 6-year extended warranty for $18,000, mines fully loaded with features I don't see often on other Mini's. My dealer mailed me a trade-in coupon for $6000 for my Mini right after spending $3200 for new flywheel and clutch components, this was the reason for my visit. So actually they were offering me $2800 trade-in for my Mini, they wouldn't even give you low Blue Book which is consider fair to common sense folk!

Stealership!
