Nothing beats learning to drive a little closer to your car's limits, and recognizing when you approach or exceed them before it's too late. NOTHING! Try www.bmwcca.org for the nearest chapter, and sign up. a |
Driving it. :)

That's a tough question. I literally never carry passengers in the back, so I removed the rear headrests for improved visibility out the back. They're in a box in the boot along with wiper fluid and a gallon of oil, just in case I need to give more than one person a ride.
I'd say lowering my car on coilovers is number one, followed very closely by the RMW tune and the Sprint Booster. If I had to do it over again, I probably would not have bothered with the intake and exhaust. I will probably go back to stock on those eventually... I still have the stock airbox so that's easy, but I no longer have the stock catback. Wheels and tires make a huge difference, too. Moving down to a 15lb wheel and summer rubber compared to the boat anchor stock S-Lites was huge. I'm getting rid of my Konigs and switching to 15" R100 Spooler stock wheels, which come in at 13.7lbs as well as tires that are 5lbs lighter than my current ones. That should be a noticeable difference, I think. |
I didn't even think of my lowering springs ahaha, I do love them, need a rear swaybar to go along with the springs though!

JCW leather steering wheel and shifter.
|
35% tinted windows the first week... JB+ the next .

So far I previously enjoyed wmw catless downpipe for exhaust note and little more top end, however recent demod - then now recent remod has me favoring the Forge Recirc valve. Boost response feels greatly improved and every gear its just there.. was tough to compete with the short shifter, but im not fully used to that yet. It is fantastic as well!
However Monday I should recieve my tune files from Battle, hoping thats my new fav! |
We have a tie for first, so far I'd have to say the Forge diverter valve/H-Sport RSB! The two best bang for your buck mods that made the most difference for the lowest amount of money spent!

Ohlins road and track. Got them last week with Vorshlag camber plates. Not installed yet, but thinking this will be my favorite mod. |
JCW leather/Alcantara steering wheel. By far the best mod. You touch it all the time, and it's just so much nicer in the hands. Yes, more than ANY other thing I've done, it makes the car MUCH more enjoyable to drive.

+1 on the H-sport RSB.
|
I haven't even picked up my Mini yet from the dealer, but I found myself scanning ebay last night looking for ideas. The sickness continues.

Hard to decide but it comes down to my Ohlins and my iPE exhaust. 2 mods that have really transformed the way I drive the MINI.

painted the ring around the tachometer silver to match the center speedometer and vents . I don't know mini stopped doing this .

If I won the lottery tomorrow, I wouldn't buy a bugatti or a lambo or a Ford Raptor....I'd mod the hell out of my mini lolol ...and then I'd buy the raptor. |
new favorite mod! BMS Clutch stop, best $10 i have ever spent.
|
I have to agree with Richard, the JCW suede wheel is awesome. My favorite mod has to be the Accessport. Having another ~20 lb-ft of midrange makes this car much more fun to drive.
Have fun, Mike |
I went in the opposite direction with mine and painted the ring around the shifter boot gloss black to match the ring on the horn pad.....I also painted the cup holder rings chili red. This goes better with the red stitching on my steering wheel, shift boot, handbrake handle and seats (I got the JCW interior option on my Justa) and minimizes the plasticky-looking "fine white silver" trim.
