do you drive your "S" in the snow...

... or is it a garage queen ?

Beachnmini 12-10-2013 01:14 PM

I do not drive mine in the snow..

nine5raptor 12-10-2013 01:25 PM

I do indeed.

Soiman gets out year round (and usually camps outside year round as well).

He got some freezing rain the other day.

jcauseyfd 12-10-2013 01:33 PM

Mine motors in all kinds of conditions as it is my daily driver.

fflan513 12-10-2013 03:20 PM

snow, ice...yes sir

I've driven my R56 in snow and ice and find that it has great footing.....definitely doesn't slide like my SUV.

miniC00PERs 12-10-2013 05:22 PM

I do, but tires are on their last leg, just can't see myself spending so much on maintenance. :( oh well, maybe ill get winter rims and tires if I'm going to spend that much. could find some cheap honda rims i'm sure!!!

InjectedGT 12-10-2013 05:26 PM

It's a fairly cheap front wheel drive eco box, of course I do. It's not a sports car no matter how fun it is ;)

Daily driver, drives year round. Blizzaks on for winter, it's very sure-footed. A bit low to the ground for the really deep stuff.

Climberdave 12-10-2013 06:15 PM

If it ever snowed here on the Kitsap Peninsula, PNW - maybe, but at the moment she's a garage Queen (8000 miles in 12 months). I guess you could say that I'm more of a "liquid snow" driver

R56BrgMcs 12-10-2013 08:03 PM

Yep, put the blizzaks on and Benni rallies in the snow.

DRoc7822 12-11-2013 01:02 AM

Daily driver here as well. We didnt get much snow last year... actually almost no snow last year. But recently gotten some and it was terrible in the snow. I'm thinking its just the tires I have on her though. Been tossing around the idea of getting winter tires as I still have the OEM wheels in the garage or just some all seasons till I am able to get a 2nd car to use as the DD as I drive alot for my job currently.

Daily driver here... I just took it to the pressure wash last night to blast all the salty crap off of it. I really don't have all that much experience driving it in the snow, but having just replaced the runflat tires with all-season Kumho Ecstas, it's got to be better than before. The original runflats were worn down to the wear bars (shame on me), and even in the dry, they weren't very impressive.

My R56 came with the Cold Weather Package, which helps a lot. The seat heaters (bun warmers) are really easy to get used to. ;-)

Besides, I already have a garage queen... see MG in the pic below. Although actually, on nice dry winter days I occasionally take it out for a run just to keep it healthy.

Just beware of the high setting! I haven't had heated seats before and the first time out, I used the 3 dot setting. Wow! I wasn't sure if I shat myself or if it was the heater! :-D

I sure do like em when the weather has been in the teens!

yetti96 12-11-2013 06:10 AM

It will be 87 here today, no need to drive in snow.

danjreed 12-11-2013 07:57 AM

Yup daily driver.

Quite a bit of snow the past few days here in the Philly area. Car does just fine in the snow (with winter wheels and better all seasons..).

Edit - VERY happy I paid extra for the winter package.!!

I grew up in New England. It's funny when these Nebraskans cry about their short, mild winters :P

Pno2nr 12-11-2013 09:25 AM

Ha! Good one. We have 2 seasons here. Summer and Winter. Fall and spring are just 2 week teasers.

Pno2nr 12-11-2013 09:27 AM

I grew up in Seattle, so 9 months of wet with 3 months of glorious weather!

mbwicz 12-11-2013 09:33 AM

I drive every day, have winter wheels (Michelin snows), the car does well in the snow. Mine is an automatic, so I put the shifter to the left. That puts the trans in DS/sport (engine braking is helpful), but keeps the normal throttle response and steering weight.

Heated seats are really nice, and the rear wiper/washer works well. No reservations about taking the car out in any weather.

Have fun,
Mike

Matty33 12-11-2013 09:37 AM

Driving in the snow can sometimes be more fun than not! I had a blast the past few winters in mine, really drives great and extremely easy to correct if it gets a little out of control.

This year I had the unfortunate opportunity of driving my '11 during our first snow which was just a light coating on the roads. The problem was I still had my summers on, that was not so much fun and also a bad idea

Errant 12-11-2013 09:53 AM

I'm in the mountains, and get a few feet of snow in the Winter. The MINI is my daily driver, but I also have a Land Rover that gets used when the roads are bad.

Between Kingston and Hansville (Apple Tree point is about 8 miles from my house).

Sorry about Nebraska

Ta87 12-11-2013 05:04 PM

I'm stationed in North Dakota... we've seen >0 temps twice in the last two-three weeks. It's my daily driver.
