Burnt clutch smell

The other day i was driving my 09 mcs and out of no where came a really bad burnt smell... like a clutch being severely abused.

If i was peeling wheel then I would understand the smell, but since i was driving normally maybe 30 miles an hour idk why the clutch would smell like that. It is an unmistakable smell... as if the devil farted after eating taco bell..

question is, could the smell be something else?

The only other thing that smells remotely similar is very hot brakes. Make sure your foot is on the dead pedal when you're not using the clutch. Even the slightest amount of pressure can lift the clutch from the flywheel.
