Well, it’s official.... Oscar is gone.

It’s been a fun road and I’m going to miss the hell out of him but Oscar has officially been sold to another NAM member.

Though I’ve got another car on order, I’m thinking of a first gen. supercharged mini or a wrecked Clubman to turn into a pickup truck.

In either case, ya’ll ain’t done with me yet.

I’ll see ya on the boards still...

Thanks,

Mark

..the pickup truck idea would be fun to see!

I've always thought those Red Bull MINIs would be an interesting and fairly easy convert to a lil' pickup, ..but the longer clubby could look really cool riding low.

Well, actually, I’d buy two clubbies. I’d want to lengthen the car about a foot.

It would be much easier to buy two and section the frame. I’ve got my eyes open.

And you could put the one you took the section from back together and make a shorty Clubman!

If you can find a couple of clubby totals and make one pickup, I would think it would be cool.

When do we get to see the Boxster pictures.

Only pics I have are off the configuration site. I had the wheels and mirror photoshopped (so the red stripe on the wheels will be thinner) but that’s about it. (and there’s no red stripes on the air intake grille... not sure where they came from)

Can you tell us the NAM member who bought Oscar, or what part of the country Oscar is living in now? Just wondering if we'll see him on any of the tracks in the Northeast...

His name is Alex and he lives in Alabama. I’m sure he’ll log on shortly....

Ah, but a coupe doesn't have those wonderful barn doors!
They were the main reason I got a Clubman!

Hmm, a pickup with a tailgate that splits in half and opens to the side? Hmmmmmm......

How soon do you expect your new Boxster? Just curious how long it takes to get an ordered Porsche. I am guessing 4-6 weeks, similar to waiting on an ordered MINI.

I won’t get it till first to middle of August... Shipping date to the US is July 16th. It takes like 11 days to get to the US and by the time it goes through customs, gets prepped by the dealer and clear bra’d, etc, I’m sure I should have it mid August at the latest.

Looong wait.

I like the idea of a MINI pickup a whole lot more than I've liked any of the examples I've seen. Perhaps a Countryman-based pickup with All4 and a functionally lifted suspension? Or at least something that doesn't look as if it was inspired by the '90's mini truck scene.

Ok, enough of the hero worship. I mean, The Lone Ranger never sold Silver for a grass bellied gilding that had pulled up lame. Mad Max was still driving his Ford Falcon XB GT in Beyond Thunderdome. And he didn't even have a garage to park it in!
Alright, I am over it.
Can't wait to watch the next project develop. What you have is rare combination of creativity, with the best resources, in a nice guy. We all loved to watch our favorite car get done up, and done up right. In real time, in real life. Not jammed into 30 minute, commercial stuffed, psuedo-drama segments. Our own little West Coast Customs, without the bull crap.
My wish list for unique? Suicide doors. Eh? Think about it. Easy in, easy out, nobody has them....nice.

It's funny you said that about the suspension. I definitely would bag it so it would look cool as hell when dropped but be realistic about driving in the real world.

Dude, I had to wipe my eyes I was laughing so hard. Too funny. Thanks for the compliments. Oscar wasn't anything special, just a labor of love that turned out good.

The new owner is a cool guy and it's good that Oscar went to someone that appreciates some of the "extras" that I put in him. He was a solid car with no corners cut and I know he'll enjoy him for a long time.

Thanks,

Mark
