Radiator fan always stays on after having water pump recall performed
So I have noticed that ever since having the water pump recall performed, the radiator fan is always remaining on after I shut down the car after a drive.
Now, I know that this is a design feature to aide in cooling once the car is off. In the past, I have only noticed it staying on maybe 10% of the time. Now, after the recall work, it seems that it remains on 90% of the time.
Was there also am associated software update that makes the fan stay on longer after the car has been shut down?

Well I understand that. Just seems to be overly active. I bought the car last august when temps were much higher and I never remember the fan being on this often.
I only really noticed things after the recall was performed. Maybe they didnt get a good fill on the coolant and there are some air pockets mucking things up.

My 07 does the same thing but it really depends on the temp outside and how far I drive it.
It only stays on for about 45 seconds at most.
I don't hear any difference in the new aux pump as far as noise, it seems
fairly quiet IMO.
Might be the Forge FMIC I installed at the same time I had the aux pump changed out.
Don't they both cool the turbo down.

Is is up to the full line?

Last I saw, it was in between the min and max lines. I am going to try and "burp" it this weekend via that bleeder screw. Will pick up some super special coolant to see if that will help. BMW and Mini are the same stuff, right? The BMW dealer is on the way home, unlike the Mini dealer which now has its own building on the other side of town.

Way back I had a leak in my thermostat but couldn't see any fluid leaking anywhere. Ended up blowing out the bottom while moving but every couple of days my coolant bottle would be darn near empty.
Let us know if that helps.

1. Start engine
2. Turn heat to high and speed to high
3. Loosen bleeder valve until you hear air release.
4. When no more air is heard, close bleeder valve.
5. Top off coolant bottle.
6. Repeat until coolant comes out of bleeder valve.
7. Recheck coolant level and you should be done.

Give it a day or so and keep an eye on the coolant level. Even mine seems to sporatically come on sooner than other times. Seems more so since I've had my thermostat replaced. Even at that it still only seems to run about 45 sec to 1 min. I don't know what is normal on the run time.
I just bought and installed one of those ScanGauge II's. Kinda up in price, $170 w/tax but now I can monitor stuff like water temp., intake temp, etc. I noticed my water temp (at operating temp) is about 220-225. That is normal so I'm happy.
Just wish the gauge would display oil pressure.
Keep us in touch on outcome.

Well, I was just able to access the coolant temp through the super secret menu found here:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...316-post6.html
I saw anywhere between 223F and 239F. Which seems within the normal range. I guess I have an overactive fan? I feel like it was never this active when I 1st bought the car last July.

I never hear my radiator fan turn on at all.
I drive for 15 minutes and it basically stay at 103 - 106 C (217.4 - 225) until I turn my car off. I never it it drop below 100. Since my car is out of warranty, there is no way for me to test if my radiator fan is working properly. I'm using Scanguage II to read all my temp.

Add 2 extra steps. This is what the MINI Tech told me when I bought my coolant.
1. Start engine
2. Turn heat to high and speed to high
3. Loosen bleeder valve until you hear air release and open coolant tank.
4. Go to bottom front of the bumper and located the radiator tube.
5. Squeeze the tube at the radiator and pour again until there is no more bubbles.
6. When no more air is heard, close bleeder valve.
7. Top off coolant bottle.
8. Repeat until coolant comes out of bleeder valve.
9. Recheck coolant level and you should be done.
