Lamps in bumper, what are they?

I just picked up my MINI last night. I don't have fog lamps, but where they would be, there are clear lights that turn on when I put the headlamps on. What is the purpose of those lights? aesthetic?

Thanks!
Al.

The round lamps imbedded in the bumper are just parking lights. If you had gotten the optional front fog lights the bottom 2/3 of the lamp would be your fog light and you would have an extra toggle switch to control them.

Cool, thats answers my question. I don't see any need or front fogs, but strange that my car is optioned with a rear fog, but not front!

Do you have a separate switch for the rear fogs in place? If you do not then the Rear Fogs will not work even if bulbs are in place at the rear

I am pretty sure that front fogs are standard. Rear fogs are an option. So you should have fog lamps. The switch is immediately to the right of your driver's side window control. A green lamp icon lights up on your speedometer when the front fogs are on (yellow for rear fogs). Remember that front fogs can only be on when your lights are on dim.

Yup I have a switch for the rear and it works. (amber rear fog indicator on central dial illuminates)

No switch for front fogs.

The current Mini build chart lists front fogs as a $250 option (rear fog is $100) on the basic Cooper. Front fogs are standard on the Cooper S (rear fog is still an extra $100). If you decide in the future that you want the front fogs you can install them yourself (if you're handy) and wire them to a non oem interior switch.

As I look at the new-build/pre-order list, quite a few options are reasonably priced compared to the cost of retrofitting. Sucks for me as I don't buy cars new any longer, so I have to depend on the original owner to do the right thing.

Note to new car buyers -- seriously, opt for Xenons and foglights already. The cost to retrofit using OEM parts is easily 3X the incremental charge.

Sorry d@g those weren't in the budget even the Rear Fog @ $100, I got Molly optioned up to $25550, then absurdly added another $3000 when she came in.
