Well, It's been real fun folks.....

Well, I finally got my 2.5 year itch to get another vehicle and decided to get rid of the 09MCS and bought a 12 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Actually the exact same vehicle I traded in for my MCS but newer. I have had real fun with the car and will always give props to MINI's. Farewell and you never now, I might be back in 2.5 years.....Motor on gents.....:thumbsup: PS: I almost shed a tear handing over the keys.......

Enjoy the 16 mpg... I guess...

Should be just as reliable as the MCS.

I just did the reverse. Came back to MINI after spending 3 years in a Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. Have fun in the Rubicon. Any good rock crawling outside Richmond?

Yep there is. Quick two hour drive the Blue Ridge hills and there you are.

Years ago - I nearly signed off on new 2006 Unlimited Rubicon but decided against it and picked up a lightly used 2004 MCS instead. This saved me enough money that I was able to keep my 1994 Cherokee around for off-road excursions.

I have a special kind of fondness toward Jeeps and MINIs. They're both fun in different ways and I can't knock you for your decision to go with the Rubicon. Let us know how you like that new engine in the Jeep! I hear it's a lot nicer than the minivan engine it replaces. :)

Congrats on your new purchase. Best of luck in your new venture.

We have an '07 JK Sahara, a '99 TJ and a '72 CJ5, and an '03 MCS.

Good luck with the JK!

Most people don't buy cars strictly based on gas mileage. I didn't, it's just an added bonus.

I traded in a Wrangler to buy my Mini, and wish I had done a cash down and kept the Wrangler -- I miss it. They are both tons of fun to drive, just in different ways. Congrats on the Rubicon, I'm jealous!

It gets better than that (MINI never got over 29 MPG's to begin with) and now I don't have to buy premium gas from a "top tier" gas station. 87 from SAMS is about $.40 cheaper per gallon than premium from Shell where I had been buying exclusively due to fear of having my warranty voided for what ever MINI tries to pull....

I traded an 08 Rubi for the MINI and this new engine is WAY better than the old power plant. Heck, with a few mods, I can take that stock 0-60 in 6.7sec down lower than the MINI's 6.5. Not that's what I want thought.....

I don't know. This is my 5th Wrangler ( 2-97's, 2002, 2008, and 2012) and I can honestly say that the MINI was in the shop WAY more than all 5 put together and then multiplied by 2. But I still really liked the car.....

I also have a Jeep and my MCS. I will never part with my Jeep, going on 10 years and it's rock solid.

YubaRiverMini Dec 2, 2011 09:16 PM

95 Jeep Wrangler and MCS....When it snows or the weather is really crappy the Mini stays in the garage and I drive my Jeep. Mileage on the Jeep is about half and not much pep at all to the Jeep but still fun to drive.

Kind of. I have to drive west a bit to hit good trails. The Rubi costs too much to tear up so I will stick to moderate trails for camping and fun. I have a few buddies who have trail rigs that are set up to beat up. So I just ride with them on the serious trails.

Good luck! Some people buy cars like they're married (and monogamous) to a brand. I know someone who'll only buy Honda Accords, someone else that only buys Audi A4's, etc..

I've made my share of wild swings, oddest was probably trading an Audi TT in on a new Jeep. Those Jeep salesmen were like "What they hay-all is that thang?".
