what should i pay to have some place instal my stripes.

I purchased stripes off of Mightystripes. They are bonnet, roof and boot. I don't know what is a reasonable install fee. The dealership quoted $280. I think this is very high, have any of you guys paid less.

Last year I inquired about stripes at my dealer and it was 200$ for the stripes with the install. But that was just for the bonnet.

$200 is probably a good figure as it can take a little time to put them all on and get them lined up properly. Why not do them yourself. It really isn't difficult. My son and I did the one on my MCS and they weren't 100% perfect, but they look pretty damn good IMO. It's not difficult, just a little tedious. All you really need is a spray bottle with slightly soapy water, a sharp knife and/or scissors, a ruler or tape measure, blue masking tape, a bit of patience and an afternoon. It helps to have a garage to work in, but a shady area will work well if it isn't to windy. Give it a try. If you screw it up, all you're out is the cost of the stripes. There are several threads here the provide tips and instructions.

After we did mine, my son did them for a few buddies and theirs came out really nice.

i paid $285 for an outside contractor to get them done at the dealership back in january 2009. my stripes go down the bonnet and boot. they're centered, with one large (5"?) black stripe down the middle and one (1.5"?) stripe on each side. the contractor did a really nice job of trimming the tape so that the logos were surrounded evenly and cleanly by the black tape.

i'd checked around at other shops and the price i paid was reasonable for where i live and for the quality of work. i'd pay that much again.

I found a local guy who does signs and race cars to do mine. He has a machine that cuts the stripes out. He only charged me $60 total for the stripes and installation just because he had never done a MINI before. That was for bonnet, boot, and both sides. Did a great job too. I did give him a nice tip though!

A lot of DIY satisfaction to be had. It puts the 'YOU' in Youafication. $200 would pay for a fun weekend motoring adventure.

i think i might try it myself. All the quote i am getting are over the dealer price. I got one for $500. I was like............ ugg. I mean if i do the stripes like one a day i might be able to do it. Work my way up from bonnet to boot to roof.

If i do it my self i will post pics and videos on doing it for anyone that wants to in the future.

I support this decision. Just be patient and take your time, and you'll do a great job.

Take a look at how these boot stripes were added. This should help increase the confidence level.

We had our MightyStripes professionally installed for about $175 (boot, bonnet and sides). For that amount, it was worth it for me, because if I applied one of the stripes incorrectly, or messed up on the spacing between the main stripes and the adjacent pinstripes, it would have bothered me forever. If you're more adventurous and/or forgiving of imperfections, it's not that hard to do yourself.

We had a local stripe place (does police/fire/race vechicles) do my wife's mini - cost was just under $300 for hood, boot and rear bumper but they did custom make the stripes (ghost flames, and dog foot prints).

I had a '66 Mini, put the stripes on myself! That wood... be back
around 1970.
Now have a '03 MCS, bought in '10, came with factory stripes!
Thought they sucked, removed them and did my own application!
Much more subtle and to my taste...use any automotive tape supplier.
Its easy to apply and easy to change ...to ones monthly taste....
