R56 Painted Headlight rings thanks to OrangeCrush!
Painted Headlight rings thanks to OrangeCrush!
I bought my MINI with the headlight rings vinyl wrapped (color matched), but it never really matched. If you looked at in the shade and a little distance, they looked great, but upon further inspection, it just didn't match. There was no shine.
So, I messaged Mark (OrangeCrush) to see if he could paint them, and voila, here they are.
Mark thank you so much for painting these to me and getting them to me so quickly!

I have one chip on mine (after 1 year), but the body shop sort of warned me about that when I got it done.

My only question. What's the prep to this? Do you chip off all that plastic chrome or paint right over it? I mean I would sand and prime and paint and clear the chrome but i have a crack in my chrome. Just wondering. Thanks.
I'll report back to let you know if there is chipping. I expect it. it's on the front of the car
Here’s the deal guys about chipping. Sanding the chrome is extremely important in order to prep it for zinc chromate primer.
Once done, the paint is no more or no less durable than the paint on the rest of the car...
Having said that, the problem is the headlight rings are almost vertical and have a much bigger chance of getting hit square on than anything else on the car (except the bumper which is urethane so that doesn’t count)
My opinion (which I did to my own) is to get a clear bra put on the pieces. All of my trim, (ie. grill mouldings, headlight trim, foglamps, headlights, etc, etc) have the 3M clear bra put on it.
Hope that helps, btw the car looks great... I like the red!
