This post makes me feel lucky that I have a girlfriend who is supportive over my ridiculous obsession.

When I picked up my MINI from the lot (she was along with me), I think I listened to "Get a Bloomin' Move On" for 30 minutes straight and she didn't say a word. She was probably annoyed as hell, but also probably saw I was having far too much fun to say anything about it.

Let her know that MINI is an icon. It's so popular that they made the "Black n' Yellow" song for your car...at least thats what I tell my kids and everyone else.

I'd give her the boot...now that's just me

This coming from a girl, I'm gonna go with you need to move on. 5 months is not a lot of time invested and if she's shallow enough to act this way this early in the relationship over a car then more ugly heads are bound to pop up as time goes on.

My friends and my wife don’t get it. They can’t understand how I’ve spent my entire life building blown small and big blocks why the hell I’d want to drive a mini.

That is until they either drive it or I blow their doors off when they try to catch me on the twisties...

At this point in my life, I don’t care if my friends or my wife don’t like it, I didn’t buy it for them.

Enjoy your car, they’ll get over it.

I come home and find my wife with a toothbrush detailing her engine bay.

One time she jacked up my E21 and started cleaning the inside of the wheels because she couldn't untorque the bolts and couldn't find the air gun.

I love her so much....

Dude, I hate to tell you this but that wasn’t an electric toothbrush.

My wife and I have been married for 29 Years and I think it's lasted that long because we share interests. Not all but some. One of them is cars. I also like to fly RC gas powered planes but she does not really enjoy that. But it's ok. She likes cars. We attend dirt track races together, the top fuel funny cars etc when the Nationals come to town.

She has interests that don't really interest me but I don't let her know that Just kidding.

29 years and i Love her very much.

Your GF needs to be flexible and support your interests and you need to support hers. if that won't/can't happen time to move on. Life is short.

BTW her car is the auto though she can drive a stick just as well as I can. But it was her choice.

Well in reality you are not going to be doing it alone.

Kick the current GF to the curb, put her in the trash, how ever you want to say it. Just get rid of her!!!!!

And guess what you will find you have lots of other friends to do "MINI things" with and in time you will find a GF that likes your car. She may not be into it as much as you but she will not be derogatory.

BTW have fun in the mean time while finding a new GF that respects you enough to accept your love of cars and all things MINI.

My boyfriend is not crazy about my car but he doesn't complain about it and he puts up with my obsession (for the most part). On the other hand, he is obsessed with working out but I couldn't care less about how he balances his cardio with strength training or whatever. I always listen to everything he has to say and sometimes I even humor him by asking him questions about his work out routines. When you care about somebody, even just a little bit, you don't dis their hobbies.

You can try talking to her about it but based on the fact that she won't even ride in your car even though she knows that you love it, I'm pretty sure she is just selfish/really hates minis and will never change her mind. There are plenty of girls who love minis (all of my girlfriends love my car) so just ditch her before the relationship gets more serious.
