R56 Yearly Free Maintenance?????
Yearly Free Maintenance?????
Okay folks, I have a question. My Cooper S has 7700 miles on it and is one year old. I changed the oil myself at 3500 miles and was wondering if there is any reason to take it to MINI and if they will do anything if I do? I don't have any specific problems but was wondering if they will do anything maintenance wise to my car?
Thanks in advance for your help, Larry

When in for regular maintenance, updates for the DME are usually loaded if not done. While there, ask them to perform the bulletin installation of the little heat shield for the turbo lube feed line too. Most 2010 models didn't come with them.
There is also a bulletin for a heat shield for the bonnet scoop to keep it from melting. I don't think you have one of those either.

Thanks Gray Raven. I wonder if I should take off my M7 heat shield. This is the first time my MINI has been in for anything. I have a few engine bay mods, hope they don't mind...

I understand you need to take it in for yearly service to keep the warranty intact.
If you don't take it in for the scheduled maint. could be grounds to deny warranty, otherwise I wouldn't let them touch mine. Good luck.

I changed my oil at 7500 miles using the Castrol Full Synthetic+ BMW filter and added the M7 Heat shield, NM Tower support, and BSH Oil Tank and they had no problem with doing their maintenace. They changed my wipers & cabin filter, brake fluid, and adjusted the shift linkage for no cash. Work was well done and car was washed when I got it back. Dryer & Reinbold did the work in Indy...
