Urgent: Car Won't Start & Key Is Stuck - Advice Needed
 

While I wait for my Service Advisor to call me back (left a voicemail this morning) I decided to post and see if any one has had this happen to them.

This morning I jumped in my MINI to goto work like any other day. I threw my key in the ignition and tapped the Start button. All the lights on the tach and speedo lit up like usual, but then they immediately went out. The car never attempted to turn over either. I pressed the button a few more times to see if it would start up, but the lights wouldn't even turn on at this point. Since I work close to home I figured I'll just walk to work. I attempted to remove my key from the hole and it wouldn't come out, it is locked in as if the car is currently running. When I push it in to pop it out like normal it doesn't come free.

Has anyone had this happen to them, and if so, what was the cause/fix?

Check your battery connections, and the battery.

Sounds electrical to me... but I'm no mechanic!

Yeah, sounds like you battery is dead.

Issue solved. Turns out the + terminal on the battery completely wiggled itself off. Kinda weird that it was able to do that.
