I don't understand the concept of doing this.

You have to take it out every time you start your car up. Seems like a waste of energy to me.

Just picked up 2 metal rings for the 08, any dealer should have them. And yes my 11 has metal ones as stock.

Makes a huge improvement and easy to install.

These guys have something similar. I got one for my wife for her Countryman key fob, it was pretty nice.

My '08 had the plastic (chrome painted) ring completely worn off.
I was within the 4 year warranty, and they replaced it with a metal chrome one free of charge. Works great.
