Ice pellets?? I think I'll leave my mini in the garage.

...And take the train today. I am getting sick and tired of all this bullsh*t snow and crappy weather.

QBear Feb 1, 2011 06:01 AM

It's all Al Gore's fault!

Ghostpedal Feb 1, 2011 06:15 AM

I feel your pain. I got the Mini out this weekend, but it's not looking good for a while. This week, we're expecting white out blizzard conditions, 18+ inches of snow, and 15+ ft. drifts. I'm not sure if I'm going to be leaving the house at all for a few days, much less in the Mini. Ready for spring.

minimike21 Feb 1, 2011 06:53 AM

+1 i hate this freakin snow!!!

Achilless Feb 1, 2011 06:57 AM

same here, we already got 10 inches this morning, tomorrow we are supposed to get 30 inches. Took my mini out a couple times but now its safely in my garage

Cant wait for spring, got my new wheels sitting in my room

nics.sd Feb 1, 2011 07:01 AM

It'll be 65 and sunny today here in San Diego.

onefish2 Feb 1, 2011 09:00 AM

Have not driven mine in a week. Its all nice and clean but a little dusty in my nice warm garage.

I can't take this snow and weather any more either. It sucks.

Can't wait for the spring to come so I can go tear up some roads.

minimike21 Feb 1, 2011 09:03 AM

i wish i had a nice warm garage! this sucks!

iwashmycar Feb 1, 2011 10:31 AM

I left mine in the garage today, as I can thankfully work from my laptop at home. Not as easy doing CAD without my giant dual-screens at the office, but least the car's not ice covered! (filthy still)

Motor On Feb 1, 2011 10:31 AM

Am I the only one that just loves tearing up the snow in the MINI; I'm still on "summer" tires while I'm at it too.

wpb mini Feb 1, 2011 10:32 AM

I feel so sad for all those MINIs (and owners) that are suffering out there!

No you are not. I'm with ya  , but when everything is covered in a layer of ice I'm happy to stay home. Even though I do have proper shoes on the MINI.

Not the only one  Although I do have winter tires

Driving through snow is sooooo fun in this car, and so are the big open parking lots! I don't understand how people can't handle it.

Crashton Feb 1, 2011 12:33 PM

Heck man you are from Buffalo. You either handle it or die up there.

automan21 Feb 1, 2011 01:47 PM

same here, hating the snow now.

Ive's Mini Feb 1, 2011 04:14 PM

Mine is my daily driver, with the snow tires, it's awesome. I will admit, scraping the snow and ice off the car is getting old, but that thing is awesome in the snow. The Caddy lives in the garage with the wife's mini-van, so the Mini lives outside.

Spridget Feb 1, 2011 04:44 PM

I washed my MINI this past Saturday afternoon, and now it's sitting in the driveway covered with glaze ice, sleet, and snow.

Sigh... longing for long, warm days...

I don't worry about my driving in the snow, what scares me is my road opponents and particularly the ones who have not bothered to get insurance.

vicj Feb 2, 2011 07:56 AM

Hee Hee! This is why I BOUGHT a Mini...as a winter beater. Snowdrifts, here I come!

mellowmac Feb 2, 2011 08:26 AM

Impressive... This is my first winter in a Mini (a pre-owned '09 MCSa). My previous daily driver was a VW Golf which was GREAT in the snow (with all weather tires), but I have to admit that I am more than a little disappointed in the Mini. I have Conti run-flats with 20k on them. Could that be the problem? Do winter tires provide that much of an advantage? I absolutely love this thing when its dry, but not feeling it at the moment.

Spridget Feb 2, 2011 11:53 AM

This morning marked my first experience with runflats in deep snow. I wasn't impressed... It took a lot of digging to get out of the driveway. Meaning, I got stuck several times, and finally got out when our son came out and pushed. The runflats were sort of useless.

I'm usually fine with all seasons, but there is just no comparing dedicated snow tires and all seasons. I drove a Chevy Lancetti with snow tires in Iceland for a while though some nasty conditions and never once had a problem with thick snowfall or ice.

Get a set of four snow tires. The Conti run-flats are a 'Jack of all trades, master of none' when it comes to deep snow. Got Michelin X-Ice Xi2's on dedicated winter wheels on mine. They work great!
