Complete power loss, dealership can't find issue
Last week my wife was driving home and had a complete loss of power except the engine. All the gauges, lights, navigation, heat, everything but the engine stopped working for 10-15 seconds and then came back on. So I took it to the dealership and they have had it for 3 days now. They just called and said they have checked everything they could think of and can't find a problem and the computer did not log any error or anything.
Anyone ever had this happened? I'm just concerned this might happen again. The car is a year old with only 7,000 miles. |
Thought I was the only one with a problem like that. Not a mini but a mini van. Driving at night on I-85, suddenly no dash lights, fuel gauge reading for a minute or so. Circuit board changed out, no problems after that.

It's usually a circuit board/computer problem. It can be sudden and intermittent I think. If it didn't throw a code you might not get anything done (yet). It's probably gonna come back.

On going electrical problem
I have had an ongoing electrical problem with the radio for almost 6 months. The reception will fade after driving for 10 to 15 minutes. If I stop the car for gas upon restarting the radio will work fine for a few minutes and then cut out again. At times the CD player will also no work. If only the radio is involved there is a static sound as if it were not tuned to a station. If the CD player is involved there will be no static on either the radio setting or on the CD setting. The problem occurs on a daily basis.
The dealer has had the car in their shop 5 separate times. On three separate occasions I have brought the car in with the radio not operating - the mechanic or service writer has witnessed the radio not working. They will keep the car for a few days - tell me they cannot reproduce the problem and off I go with a non operating radio. To their credit they have replaced the radio and CD player and told me they have been in contact with Mini. They have now had my car for 10 days - when I checked with them last Friday - the usual -we cannot reproduce the problem. Since my warranty is about to expire I suppose I will have a car with a non operational radio until I can unload the lemon. Do I have any legal recourse? |

We are in the same boat as our radio keeps loosing its mind and randomly selects what input or radio station, or simply can't find the radio input. We demonstrated it at the dealer, but since no fault code, they refuse to do anything. Extremely frustrating  |
