Horchata...removing the rear seat bottom?

So I let my wife barrow my car the other day, and she let my daughter bring a big drink into the car, and somehow a large horchata ended up spilled in the back seat. She soaked up as much as she could, but some of the horchata spilled down underneath the seat.

Is it difficult to remove the rear seat bottom so I can clean underneath? I went from the new car smell, to rotten milk...and I liked the new car smell better.

BTW, in case you haven't tried it...Horchata is a very delicious mexican rice water drink.

The back seat is actually really easy to remove. All you have to do is pull up at the front corners (corners facing the front of the car) and some spring tabs should release. The back just takes some wiggling.

I should also note that I did this with the backs of the back seat out. I'm not completely sure if the process is the same or harder with the backs of the seat still in place. Cloth seats? Good luck!

That's good. Should just remove, wipe with clorox wipes, and should be good as new

Mmm horchata. Spanish Horchata is a little nicer IMO, but I know how you feel; someone spilled a delicious latte in my car. Most of it got on the rubber mats, but alas a few ounces got in the carpet and the car stunk for weeks after.

Anyways, I cleaned with Folex a couple days later and used Febreeze and it's back to no odor (cleaned immediately with mineral water).

Is there some magical property to mineral water vis a vis stain/odor removal or is that just what you happened to have with you?

Well it happened right before I pulled into work and people suggested I clean it with mineral water since we keep some in the fridge there. I guess the carbonation helps more somehow? Was a stop gap measure till I was able to get cleaning stuff for it.

I've always had a rule that with a new car, no drinks up front, and any/all food in the trunk. With the MINI, somewhat hard to enforce the food in trunk rule. Still smells like new car, but hopefully it lasts longer.

My gf at the time and I were at the drive through of a Jack in the Box. I was driving a 2002 Accord at the time. She loves orange soda and she gets the largest size, I think you know where this is going. I get the drink and hand it off to my gf. She GRABS THE DRINK FROM THE LID Of course, the lid flies off... all the soda spills over the center, where the shifter is and the cubbyhole. I was pretty hot...

Years later when I decide to rip out the interior to sound dampen everything. Of course, lots of orange was there to greet me

horchata is delicious.

and your daughter should never set foot in your car again.

Thanks. That's a good laugh to start the day. Good luck getting the spill cleaned up.

Yeah the back seat lifts up pretty easy. I ran some wiring for my iSImple under the seats and underneath the carpetting. I just pulled on the corners of the lower seat cusions and they popped up. You should be able to swing the lower seat up enough to wipe things down, without having to remove the whole lower seat.

In other cars I've owned, I've found McDonalds french fries that must have been YEARS old and they still looked like they just came out of the fryer, although I can't verify anything about the taste. Makes you wonder.
