How to tell if a car has the sport package?

Hi all,

Can someone identify a Mini for me? I am trying to figure out if it looks like it has the sport package or not - but I am not well-versed enough in them to tell.

It looks like this (this is a 2009):

Thanks very much!

Original sticker is definitive. Another option is stick it on a lift or jack it up and if you see sway bars you got the sport suspension. If not get the VIN and go to a MINI dealership and they can look it up and tell you all the options that are on it. I thought I had the sport suspension and I found out the other night looking at the original sticker that it didn't.

When you say "original sticker", what are you referring to?

I don't believe the sport suspension was included in the sport package for the 2009 model year.

The placard that came with the car. You know the one that shows all the options and how much the total cost is. Most of the time people put it with the owners manual. Unless they are the DBs that sell it on Ebay with all the other little other stuff they take out.

It looks like you do, you have the Xenon headlights, white turn signals, bonnet stripes and 17in wheels. The only other option is the traction control. If you have a button next to the sport button that says "DTC" you must have the sports package or whoever bought it purchased all of those options separately.

edit: Wait is that not a picture of your car?

As stated before, the most accurate way is to get the VIN and go to the dealer and find out. Guessing by ID'ing is not the most reliable way.

Also remember that BMW changes the package option more opften than I change my underwear. You won;t be able to tell just by checking out which options may or may not be present.

Also. Jbourne, if you are thinking of buying the pictured MINI, i would insist that the current owner has it detailed. I'm not sure if it is the souce of the image but that care is in pretty sorry shape. Say it with me...Clay bar plus many coats of Zaino........

It's really not gguessing. If it has white turn signals, Xenons, 17's and dsc it's a sport pac car. Nobody would order all of those options ala cart.

DTC came with the Sport Package... DSC was standard for '09.

Does miniusa's website have listings of the contents of packages for prior year models?

I had no idea it was so complicated. On BMWs, it's easy: there are dead giveaway signs for sport package vs other packages, etc., and it's easy to tell. Minis are too complicated!!! Heh.

It is confusing. I ordered my '08 Cooper Clubman with sports package, which at that time, came with sports suspension. I think in '09, they separated the sports suspension from the sports package. I now have a '10 MCS hardtop with both sports suspension and sports package. Most or all of the above posters are correct in what to do.

I know no when that keeps the sticker in the car. Hell, I know more people that framed their sticker then leave it in their car.

^ Both of the window stickers were with my owners manual. Out of the 5 vehicles I have owned my 1st one and one other did not come with the sticker. When I got my 2nd truck it was 6 or 7 years old and it still had the window sticker which was pretty sweet.

I emailed my dealer for this same reason and he came back with a list of options on my 2006 Base.

Your car has the following equipment.
Ø SoHo Edition

Ø 16” Bridge Spoke Alloys

Ø Power Fold Mirrors

Ø Rear Spoiler

Ø Chrome Line Interior

Ø Chrome Line Exterior

Ø Glass Roof

Ø Auto Dimming Interior Mirror

Ø Heated Seats

Ø Rain Sensor Wipers

Ø Automatic Headlamps

However, it seems like he may have missed a few. There is a switch for the DSC in the console, and the headlamps look like xenons to me. Measuring the wheels from the outside, edge to edge, they are 17".. is it the inner diameter that qualifies? Sorry, I imagine that's a pretty stupid question! They are definitely RunFlat tires.

Does the SoHo package imply xenons, dsc, steering wheel controls, fog lamps etc? I've had a tough time finding any definitive information on what SOHO actually includes.

Heres a picture of the front end if it's any indicator.
