2010 MCS just ordered; did I forget anything? questions?

Hi guys! This is my first post, but I've been reading and searching since the summer. Theres some great stuff here!

Well, I just ordered my 2010 MCS and it should be here around February
Horizon Blue body/roof/mirrors
Premium package
Sports package
Sports suspension
LSD
Cloth seats

Was there something I might've overlooked that you recommend? I'm still iffy on the factory alarm and cold weather package.

Anyone have experience with bluetooth in the HK system (i.e. does Caller ID show up on the display, does music auto-pause on a call and auto-resume after, etc..)?

T.I.A!

Sounds like a nice car, I very much like the color. You might want to add the rear fog lights.

Chrome line interior. Adds a bit of class.

First off, congrats on the new purchase! Horizon Blue ... very nice. I can tell you right now, the next two months are gonna crawl. But it's worth the wait.

The cold weather package is nice if you're in a area with cold winters, mostly for the heated seats. I'm spoiled rotten by mine this time of year. I could live without it if I had to, but I'm glad I don't have to.

I've got bluetooth and the HK system. HK is well worth the extra $$$. Lotta bass, but not muddy. First system I've owned that I didn't have to crank up the bass setting to get the thump I want. It's not a Mark Levinson, but it is a very nice sounding system. If you have the iPod/USB connection, that's pretty well integrated as well.

Bluetooth implementation is very slick. Once it is coupled to your phone, it uploads your contacts and numbers. On in-coming calls, it will show the name of the person calling if they're in your list, or just the number if they are not. You can also pull up your contact list on the stereo display and make calls from there without touching the phone. If you have tunes cranking, they automatically mute when the phone is in use. I actually look forward to getting calls in the car now.

As for the factory alarm, that would help you most on your insurance bill. I guess if I ever have a car stolen I'd want one, but so far I've never had one, either from the factory or after-market. But that's me; it's all a matter of personal preference.

If you change your mind on options you did or didn't order, you'd better hurry. It doesn't take long from when the order is placed to when they start the build, so it might already be too late to change anything.

Hope this helps ...

Definitely recommend the cold weather package. Can't beat the heated seats. Also, get the rear fog lights (only $100) so that you at least fill in the toggle switches... otherwise, you have a blank spot where the toggle switch goes.

Cold Weather??!! Definitely!! If you are at all in question about the Factory Alarm you can get it installed after you pick up your Baby, it will be about the same cost as having the Factory Install it for you.

I have the Hi-Fi Stereo and yes it does fade when a call comes in or I make an out going call.

Sounds like a Great Build, the options are endless so get what's important to you...everyone has their own list of "must haves", that's what MINI YOU-ification is all about!!

Xenon headlights. The factory halogen lights have those (IMO) dirty yellow color bulbs. The Xenons are definitely something I wish I would have ordered.

I would add the MazdaSpeed 3 and delete the MINI.

Oh that is brutal.

Mazdaspeed 3 is a very nice car with lots of bang for the buck, but oh God that face it has, sooooo ugly.

Back on topic....

Cold weather package.

I'd strongly consider the cold weather pack, rear fogs and the anthracite headliner. Be sure you get the interior trim you want since you'll be stuck with it pretty much.

Not anymore, the 10's are no longer wired for the alarm unless the alarm is ordered from factory.

You'll regret not ordering rear fogs. Bumper looks like crap without them, and you'll have a missing toggle switch in your dash. If you live in an area that actually gets foggy, they're a VERY good safety item to have.

Anthracite headliner was a must for me.

h/k + Bluetooth also very desirable.

Factory alarm? Pffft. Grossly overpriced. Not going to scare off a real "pro". As for adding it later, there's a rumor out there that the '10 models are no longer prewired for it, making it difficult-to-impossible for the dealer to add later. No loss IMHO.

Love Horizon Blue! You'll love the car, congrats.

Don't know where you live but if its in snow country get the cold weather package, and if you live or park in a high crime area you might want to give the alarm system some serious thought, if not I would skip it.

I ordered my MCS a month ago and am going to get it Saturday. It has what I consider just the 'bare essentials.'

-PW with a PW roof so no paint charge - which is kinda ridiculous IMHO.
-standard tranny - justification was better fuel economy, less expensive repairs (hopefully), and of course, more involving to drive.
-xenon lights - there was no compromise here. I will never have halogens again if I can possibly avoid it.
-Cold Weather package - that leatherette gets cold! And my GTi doesn't have heated seats and I really wish it did.
-Rear fog for the reasons mentioned above.

I did not need bluetooth/USB but it would've been nice, just not worth $500 IMHO. I did not need auto A/C. I did not need a sunroof - had it on my first MINI and that piddly like sun screen is nearly worthless. Plus that just creates a possible leak/creak point for the future. Standard gray headliner works just fine for me though I probably would've preferred anthracite.

MSRP came to $24,100 and the dealer is knocking off $1,000. Not a bad price for what I consider the most minimally equipped MCS I could build that still had the essentials.

Good luck!

So you're disappointing that you aren't being charged extra to not have the roof painted black?

Hah, no sorry, guess I was vague. I think it's ridiculous that they charge for paint at all is what I meant.

Mines pretty similar except I got the sunroof thanks to my wife (rattles a lot), lsd, piano black and anthracite. I would have gotten bluetooth if I were to do it again. I wanted a pretty basic car; it doesn't even have mfsw and am pretty happy with it.

Congratz on the purchase. I'm still waiting for mine as well.
MCS Manual
Black Body/Roof/Wheels
Sport Suspension
Sport Pkg
LSD
Convenience Pkg with USB (iPods 4TL )

I would reccomend the convenience pkg or at least the comfort access system. It's seems dumb but the whole key in your pocket unlock and start the car thing is awesome. My Dad has that feature on his 2008 MCS.

like all the other said... some more inexpensive details that really are bang for the buck are

1. Xenon lights
2. Anthracite headliner (i know...some like 'lightness')
3. Rear fogs

i regret everyday not getting the cold weather package :(...since its cold out lol

Isn't the MFSW a standard option on the MCS? I know I didn't have to check any box when I specc'd it out on the configurator.
