"The car won't start!"

Me: "is your foot on the clutch?"

Wife: "nevermind."

Good thing it didn't start, maybe she would have driven it through the garage door if it started in gear.

thankfully she remembers to pull it out of gear every time she starts it...

then again, she always used to remember to push the clutch too.

Wife to me, after I loaned her my car for the first time: "Now I see why you love your car so much".
My (2 year old) son, muttering to himself "crazy car... crazy car... crazy car... fast... crazy car...."

Heh.

My wife, after the first time she drove my new Clubby to work

"OK, I have to apologize, there is no freakin way to keep that car under 45!"

I had a different problem. I was used to my MINI with a manual box. When I went into an automatic car I was looking for the clutch :p.

Look at the bright side. Some women would make you drive an auto instead.

If it's one thing I hate is an auto gearbox... I HATE IT!!!

I had rules & conditions to buying this car:
Rule #1: If its not a manual, forget it.

funny part is, at the time she didnt know how to drive stick at all, then the other day she goes "i dont think i ever want an automatic again".

mission accomplished.

AGREED! auto stinks!

One thing that worries me is I see a common trend going on with many car manufacturers leaning towards paddle shifters or "tiptronic" style shifters. I understand that the advantage is much faster shift times vs. manual thus resulting in a faster 0-60, but i feel it kills the "sport" of driving. a clutch keeps you connected to the soul of the car.

thats my .02

But with paddle shifting. Your more focused on making sure u selected the right gear then enjoying the ride...
