R56 Comfort Acces - Unlocking Passenger Door
There is a setting that lets you choose whether the passenger door is unlocked when you unlock the driver door. If this is set, as it is on the OP's MINI, then the passenger cannot open his/her door with the black button on the handle.
I set my car this way and hung the fob on the driver side door handle. Then went around and tried opening the passenger door. It wouldn't open.
I set it to open both doors, and tried it again. This time the passenger could open the door with the black button.
So, if you have it set in Terrified Loner Mode, to let a passenger open the door, you have to pull out the fob and hit the unlock button twice or get in and hit the unlock toggle switch.
If you have it set in Gregarious Fool Mode, the passenger can open the door if the fob is within range of the car.

This is correct and if it works any differently there is something wrong with the programing of the computer in the car.
That is why they make a manual for the car. So you can open it and learn these things.
If you have the alarm system yes. If you do not have the alarm system then you can not get it to beep.
If you have the alarm system yes. If you do not have the alarm system then you can not get it to beep.

You select Car Settings on the NAV screen. It should be fairly obvious from there.
Wont read the manual, and want to annoy people around you when you set your alarm. Hmm, you're working up some bad karma there PoktRkt. 
and is there an option to set the alarm differently so it beeps when you set it?
