That's dirty pool for sure. The pictures were the same on my instruction sheet as on Brent's web site. I took a half million dollar bath on a house this year, so I'm afraid I'm in no position to apologize for saving $200.00.
I'm not against competition, obviously. So, you got a good deal. Good for you!
I've been competing with Curt for years as they offered a hitch for the 2002-2006 Mini Cooper (non-S) before we started selling ours. And their unit was much cheaper, but I like to think our "concept" is better than their unit.
But, I am against downright theft and copyright infringement.
Copyright aside, it's not against the law for them to buy and duplicate your design, unless it's patented. I'm not saying it's morally right, but there's no legal obstacle to them doing it, other than a patent. :(

Unfortunate but true.... it gets done all the time. Hell, look at a Hyundai and tell me that they didn't buy a BMW or Accord first.
Even if they had the legal "right" per se, they could have at least enough class to make up their own instructions....lol.
Somehow, I think Brent's hand may be entitled to some royalty.
I was going to buy a Curt hitch for my R53, but came across this thread just before I pulled the trigger. Will definitely not support them and Minidomore will get my business! No only if I had seen this 8 years ago to get that killer deal!
