Let me just give you an earful about MY mini disaster of a story........

Scroll down for photos:

I have not had a single problem with mine yet, EXCEPT the darn wait for mine to come in from the factory. Can't they just beam me up one? The wait is SO DARN HARD...........

Problem with rear hatch fixed by dealer.

No other problems to report except not enough time to drive.

By the way mine is a 09 Lighting Blue Auto . It depends on how far you live from the dealership and what kind of service the dealership has . I was worried about run flats being so far away from dealership so i have regular tires on mine . Now my passanger seat is messing up. Looks like another trip for me back to dealership in a few weeks .

Nothing

07 MCS with 13k miles. My original order had to be reordered about two weeks before the car was to be delivered, due to a code change at BMW that mistakenly left me with a Mini with no cruise control. Other than that WAIT... Two small cosmetic issues recognized by MA the day I picked it up were handled, and I've been back to the dealer ONCE for the annual oil change (do my own otherwise...I'm one of those "overchangers") and that's been it. The big problem you will have with this car in the first six months of ownership is you will leave to go run an errand and find yourself far from home, having somehow made a "wrong" turn and taken the twistiest two lane backroad route you can find to someplace you had no reason to go to, other than the fact that you wanted to DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE. Just order the car.

No problems

Took delivery of my "justa" September 8, 2008. Just passed 7000 miles and no problems. I will admit to the occasional sunroof sticking, but I just drive for about a minute and then it opens normally. Phantom has been a joy to drive, even though it usually is just a daily driver for me. I'm so glad I have a MINI, and wouldn't change anything about it.

Get a MINI... take care of it... have fun!

2008 MCS 2 problems but nothing major. Hood scoop being replaced and windows needed reprograming. Both easy fixes. 22000 miles full of smiles.

Actually I took my mini to westchester BMW. It used to have a mini dealer there as well. The mini's got there own building across the street and they don't know if they are going to get a service department.

'08 MC "Molly" coming up on 19,000 miles, a few issues, but nothing that any other car wouldn't have. Rattles, Window Dipper, Auto Gear Shift Interlock (?). All fixed by Dealer...I have an awesome Dealer BTW!! And I wouldn't want any other car...Molly is part of our Family, she's tucked in every night just like our 2 Four-Legged Kids!!

It would be even better if BMW got their **** together and started building a reliable car.

But hey, since we all should harden the **** up and buy one, I suppose there's no reason for MINI to begin building reliable cars.

9500 miles and one of the lights that lit up the license plate went out, a wire rattled loose and the led in the door handle went out (rough roads in and around boston) and i mod'ed the sunroof visor with some thin black fabric to make it 100% dark and it worked for a few days and then it got tangled and i needed to have it fixed, so that was my bad. soooo on them only a lightbulb went out. and the rest was either out of my control and theres or my fault.

and if your worried about quality control check this out, i dont think our are this bad. i was poking around autoblog this morning and came across a 68 item check list that people have compiled about the new camaro. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/22/c...-your-new-cam/
now i understand that its a kinda of isolated incident thing but still.

I just passed 7000 miles with no issues and have really enjoyed the Mini so far (not quite as much as my 07 Miata, but it is much more practical). As others have said, I usually ignore all of the problems mentioned in forums. I have had a GTI, Honda, several Jeeps, Miata, and several other enthusiast cars and all are nightmares on the forums. Yet, no major problems in my experience. However, if the Mini does end up spending significant, repeated times in the shop, I will trade it. I hate service visits to the dealer... any dealer. If I trade it, it will be for a 2010 or later GTI 5-door or Audi A4 wagon.

Only MINI certified BMW dealerships will work on your car, don't just assume because its BMW they will work on it.

And I sorta agree with the first response... Part of the greatness of owning a MINI is the community! The "omg I read so much bad stuff about MINI" posts make me think of Tony Soprano responding with "get the *** outta heah". Buy a mazda or toyota and see if you can even get another owner to wave at you (like on Curb Your Enthusiasm)... won't happen!

These forums are all about reporting everythign about your Mini, I hardly think that the ratio of negative mini posts even comes close to the amount of positive mini posts on these forums. I recommend that you stop focussing on the negative posts. -If your really bothered by the negative things some have experienced then you can always search for a car company that has zero complaints and/or issues.

3 months, 10,000 miles and not a hiccup, it's a little tank. I've driven it through the mountains on both sides of the country, in the Arizona desert in July, and had it cruising at 80mph for 6.5 solid hours and haven't had a problem. Plus, I've been averaging 40mpg on the highway, which makes me love it all the more.
