New (used) Mini owner and I have read almost every page in the forums about the R56. I took the plunge to replace the runflats today. I had been lead to believe that there were tire pressure sensors in the tires, and cautioned the tire shop about them. Lo and behold, my MCS does not have sensors, and the monitoring system actually works off the ABS sensor. Only Mini's with the navigation system have the sensors. We had no problem with the swap to Dunlop sport 7000's, and what a world of difference.
Love the site!!
The RDC wireless sensors were optional in the 2007 models. Starting with build dates of 8/07 they switched to the wireless sensors in the US as standard (mandatory for all 2008 model vehicles).
Has nothing to do with the navigation system option.
my 07 was built in July and I took delivery in Aug and it has the ABS based system - other cars on the truck were mixed, some active sensors and some ABS ....
don't recall it being an option but I bought a pre-built as it was en route the dealer so ... maybe ...
