Well, I WAS a R56 owner...

Hola all,

Well, I have bad news. As of December 5th, I no longer am a R56 Owner. Yep, you guessed it, my 7 week old Cooper got totalled out due to some dumb-a$$ not paying attention in traffic.

Pics are attached.

The good thing is, the car only depreciated by about $800.00. The bad is that I'm currently fighting with my insurance company due to the agency rep not putting GAP coverage on the car, even though my wife's car has it, and I asked for the same coverages as her car.

Also, I'm still breathing, which is always good. I do have a broken sternum, and possibly a cracked rib, which x-rays later today will tell.

Ever have one of those days where life seemed to just suck? This was one for me...

Ouch, at least your still around and MINI can always build more.

Blainestang 12-16-2008 08:01 AM

Man... that terrible.

And a broken sternum! Yikes.

BTW, it seems so much sadder when this happens to a MINI. I mean, if it were a Camry, it's would be like "Well, my refrigerator broke"... but a totalled MINI? You actually kinda feel bad for it.

NYMCS 12-16-2008 08:05 AM

Broken Sternum! Thats gotta hurt. Like you said at least youre alive and will be OK. Hydrocoedone is your friend. Feel Better.

rockridge 12-16-2008 08:15 AM

Are you going to buy another? or are you done with the Mini's?

gjhsu 12-16-2008 08:22 AM

Glad it wasn't worse, the pictures definitely look pretty bad

Good luck on the recovery!

sikamini 12-16-2008 08:33 AM

Hope you start feeling better soon!!

rhawth99 12-16-2008 08:39 AM

Best of luck with your physical recovery and good luck with the insurance!

Red Bull 12-16-2008 08:40 AM

The great news is you will be OK.....you can always get another Mini. Hope you heal well.

agranger 12-16-2008 08:47 AM

Yet another MINI sacrifices itself to protect the owner. So sad to see, but so happy to hear that you are in relatively good shape (though it might not feel that way the next time you cough with the broken rib).

gokartride 12-16-2008 08:51 AM

Yup....wrecking a MINI does not make for a good day. Ask me how I know.

mrweasel 12-16-2008 08:52 AM

That's just a little scratch. We can just buff that out.

Glad to hear you're okay.

bmbleB07 12-16-2008 08:58 AM

it's good to see that the r56 can take a beating, wow but looks like you might* have bent the frame... hopefully it was a lease, and they can give you a new one. if not i would order another and get a rental until you can replace it.

SteelersFan 12-16-2008 09:06 AM

Sorry to hear you lost your new baby. Glad it was the car that got totaled and not you. Get better soon and order up a new MINI so you can get back to motoring!

Spice Orange JCW 12-16-2008 09:26 AM

By any chance did you lease it? I was going to get gap insurance at my insurance agency. They gave me a price and told me I should ask the dealer if it was included in the lease. I did and Gap insureance was included in the Mini Financial Lease.

Sorry for you loss.

minimalistic 12-16-2008 09:27 AM

thank goodness you're ok! Out of curiosity, at the point of collision what what your speed and the speed of the other car?

sikamini 12-16-2008 09:58 AM

Maybe they will sell it to you cheap - you could make a track car out of it!

Donna/Mike 12-16-2008 10:28 AM

I'm glad you are able to post and TELL us about the accident :) Sorry about your MINI though - hopefully you can get another one very soon. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Donna:cool:

corcoranwtnet 12-16-2008 10:29 AM

Also, how large was the other vehicle to have done that much damage?

1992 12-16-2008 10:36 AM

OHH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek2:

Thats one of Clown's relatives! Mine is nearly identical except for the fact that I have the crome mirror caps and the blue color line interior w/ sport seats.

I hope you can get sorted out, health and car wise.

saturn 12-16-2008 01:34 PM

Hey Bfrance, so sorry to hear about your accident. Will you be getting another?

4xAAA 12-16-2008 01:35 PM

Glad to hear you will pull thru as a "walking wounded". Sorry about your MINI. maybe you can get another one soon.

BTW. With a cracked sternum, don't sneeze! Holy Moly DONT SNEEZE! Trust me.

MINIdave 12-16-2008 01:48 PM

Wow, I didn't realize till just now that you were a fellow KC Miniac!

Where did it happen?

Glad you're OK, hope the recovery doesn't take too long..........

toolazyforalogin 12-16-2008 05:17 PM

Wishing you nothing but a speedy recovery!

tedswoods 12-16-2008 05:23 PM
