Hi, I have a 07 MCS and have done some research into all this and this is what I've found.

R56 MINI Cooper S (stock)
front: 294 mm (= 11.5748031 inches) brake disc diameter
rear: 259 mm (= 10.1968504 inches) brake disc diameter

R56 MINI 09' John Cooper Works (retrofit brake kit)
front: 316 mm (= 12.4409449 inches) brake disc diameter
rear: 280 mm (= 11.023622 inches) brake disc diameter
part number (34 11 0 432 802)

You mention the 09'JCW mini cooper S and the JCW big brake kit, the O9 JCW is a big brake kit consisting of the rotors mentioned above plus a 4 piston brembo caliper and larger rear rotors, but i'm not sure if the caliper is much bigger.
The JCW big brake kit I think you are referring to is just a drilled and slotted rotor that will fit the standard R56 MCS without a bigger caliper. I don't believe it's actually bigger in size than the standard R56 MCS caliper.

If you want the 09' JCW bigger brake kit, front and back the part number is (34 11 0 432 802).
There are other threads about this in the 09 JCW section of the forum.

Hope this helps

Correct... I switched my 08 MCS front rotors to the JCW sport rotors (drilled and slotted) and it is a direct fit. Of course like the OEM rotors they rust so I have them out right now being zinc plated (meaning the slots, drilled holes and cooling veins will retain zinc and not rust but of course the brake pad to rotor contact area will have no zinc plating and still rust such as after washing... but that rubs away quickly obviously).
EDIT: They came back from the plater:

I picked them up from the dealership where I took delivery of the MINI... cost was $218 for both... surprising this is less than many of the Internet sales

Folks,
Somewhat related to the thread (hopefully): Can the 316mm rotors fit on the R52 along with the R56 JCW BBK retrofit? Or do I need to stick with the 294mm rotors of the Gen1 JCW?

I'm learning from a friend that if using 316mm I may need mounting bracket extensions, but can't seem to find much info on this online. Any thoughts are appreciated.

316mm rotors fit on the R52 along with the R56 JCW BBK retrofit? Yes you have to use 4 piston brakes which will match right up. See below.

294mm rotors of the Gen1 JCW single piston JCW caliper = correct
